When our team got together to create KapiK1, we couldn’t wait to share some of the amazing places we had been to, on expeditions we would never forget….we couldn’t wait to create adventures for new friends and old, and of course, we also couldn’t wait to share our love of coffee with all of you, too!!!! Probably the thing we dreamed of the most….the thing that propelled us forward and has been a driving force behind everything we do- is financially supporting the efforts of impossible2Possible- and the totally free expeditions for youth that i2P have been doing since 2008! Recently, impossible2Possible Youth Ambassadors just completed a learning based expedition crossing the Mojave Desert, starting in Eureka Valley. Educational team lead worked with our youth team ( ._._j ) to create educational modules focused on the subject of Extreme Weather…. We are SO honored to support impossible2Possible, and future expeditions are being planned!

KapiK1 Expedition Atacama….a week of running across desert valleys, hiking up huge sand dunes, and crossing beautiful mountains!
Our team was small but mighty, and forged lifelong friendships from around the world.
We spent the week challenging ourselves, learning new skills, gazing at incredible nighttime skies, and eating some pretty awesome food at camp every night ❤️
This year, trips are shaping up nicely, and we have some awesome adventures planned with a few spots still available, on trips from Arctic to Desert!

impossible2Possible Youth Expedition announcement!!!!

In May 2024, for our 16th impossible2Possible (i2P) Youth Expedition, we will continue the experiential and adventure based learning topic ‘Extreme Weather Series’ by heading to the AMAZING Mojave Desert!
The Mojave is home to the largest national park in the contiguous United States, Death Valley National Park. The traditional home of the Timbisha Shoshone for centuries, Death Valley is world renowned for its record breaking heat and is the driest place in the USA, typically receiving only 2 inches of rain per year.

In 2023, this weather pattern dramatically changed and Hurricane/tropical storm Hillary devastated the park. The entire national park was closed for months due to this rare deluge of rain that dumped 2.2 inches of rain in a matter of a few hours - flash floods caused massive damage, forever altering the landscape.

The impossible2Possible Youth Ambassador Team will take on the challenge of exploring and studying the history and ever changing weather pattern of this unique desert that reaches into 4 states; Nevada, Arizona, Utah, and California, and share what they learn with classrooms all over the world!

More details to come….but this will be a mix of unsupported and supported trekking and running through wilderness, and continued educational programming, led by our i2P Education Team, from our Nov 2023 i2P Atacama Expedition .

The last day of our 2009 i2P Akshayuk Pass Youth Expedition.

« I’m an early bird. I like to wake up early. It’s the moment of the day I feel the greatest. It’s dark, quiet, calm, like if this moment was only mine. My favourite morning combo is definitely run and coffee. It brings joy to my day and it gives me the energy to have a great day fulfilled from morning to night.

La routine matinale de l’homme derrière . Pour créer tout ce bon contenu, ne dois clairement pas ce limiter à un café par jour!

« Mes ingrédients essentiels pour un bon début de journée, c’est une tasse de café et une sortie de course en sentier. Pour moi, les deux vont de paire. Je me lève et il fait encore noir, je pars de l’eau bouillante, je dépose mon café moulu dans ma presse française, puis je vais m’habiller pour sortir courir. Aussitôt revenu à la cuisine, je coule l’eau dans la presse française et je laisse les arômes remonter à mon nez, puis au cerveau. Et avant de partir courir, je prends le temps de m’assoir. Je bois mon café dans le silence. C’est le calme avant la tempête! Et je retrouve exactement ce même sentiment avec la course en sentier : le plaisir dans le processus, les odeurs qui m’entourent, le calme et le silence. Il y a rien de mieux que ça ! »

We’ve been off grid the last week deep in the Atacama Desert with an amazing group of desert adventurers crossing some of the most spectacular desert on the planet…sand dunes, mountains, and even some rare ‘flowering desert’!!! A huge thank you to our logistics team and especially to our group who joined us- your participation in this KapiK1 expedition will be supporting our upcoming 2023 impossible2Possible Youth Expedition! Maybe the best part of the expedition was our KapiK1 coffee?!! 😉🤗

« I have to wake up very early everyday to be able to train and work like I do.

Coffee is clearly a big motivation to jump out of the bed and start the day. It’s a ritual for me, a moment of calm where I take time to sit down, relax and do nothing else except enjoying every sip !

My favorite Kapik coffee is the Atacama Sol. I really like the light roast and the sweet cookie taste.

Six days and five nights spent unsupported, crossing one of the most incredible places on Earth, sleeping under extraordinary granite walls, traversing a mix of difficult terrain, glacial moraines, river crossings… and visiting with old friends again in Arctic communities….everything we love in an adventure!!! As a matter of fact- the adventure of a lifetime 💜
