regarding centralized promotion boards-

"Will the board know if I am flagged?"

Currently, flagging information is not shown to a board. That information is redacted out of board record briefs along with other information that may create a bias like marital status, dependent data, and dwell time. Board members only see the documents available in your iPERMS, which you can validate through your My Board File (MBF). No other information or documentation is given to board members unless you outline it in a Letter to the Board President.

However-- if something pertaining to a flag is mentioned on another document, such as an OER/NCOER, GOMOR or Article 15 – then the board would know about it. These documents are not redacted.

**Major Updates for Regulation 600-8-22 (Military Awards)**

Revision Highlights:

-Removal of all commemoration to Confederate military services.
-Introduction of language and processes to support the awards program inside IPPS-A.

Incorporates:
-Army Directive 2020-06 (ACFT)
-Army Directive 2021-11 (delegation of authority to approve Army decorations to foreign )
-Army Directive 2021-20 (Eligibility requirements to accept/wear foreign badges)
-Army Directive 2022-08 (Army CID roles and responsibilities)
-Army Directive 2023-01 (Army Recruiting Ribbon)

Revisions are effective 19 FEB 2024.

The Department of Defense has approved a new policy to cover pet travel expenses, like pet transportation or quarantine fees, incurred by Service members during a Permanent Change of Station (PCS).

As of January 1, 2024, military Service members going through a PCS within the continental United States can be reimbursed up to $550 for one household pet, either cat or dog, and up to $2,000 for moves to or from a location outside the continental United States to cover costs related to the transportation of a pet.

Historically, service members paid the majority of out-of-pocket expenses to transport pets when assigned to a new duty station. This policy reduces that financial burden while recognizing the important role a pet plays in a military family’s household.

The new policy was published in the Joint Travel Regulations (JTR) on January 1, 2024 — see para. 050107.
