If you were from Michigan, you'd hold your left hand up and with your right hand, point there. This area has been making the headlines with high rankings on lists like best places to live, most romantic cities, best ice cream and best places for local wine. Well friends, I'm afraid that cat is out of the bag. Tourists are figuring out that the Grand Traverse area is the next best place to explore.

A starry night sky and Milky Way from the dock along the Leland River in Fishtown a few nights ago. I’m kind of surprised how this turned out given the amount of light pollution from surrounding building lights and parking lot lights. Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Pyramid Point is one of the most popular hikes in the dunes, often with overflowing parking in the warmer months. It’s no less incredible in the winter - maybe even more with the stark white snow against the rich lake blues - but with smaller crowds. Pack a hot chocolate, or plan a stop at for a warm up after! (Grocer’s Daughter has no idea I’m saying this; they just have really excellent hot chocolate).
