Happy Mardi Gras to our cherished Maison Famille! May the vibrant colors, joyful music, and festive spirit of this celebration bring us together in unity and shared laughter. Laissez les bon temps rouler! 🎉🎭
DID YOU KNOW...
The FIRST Mardi Gras in America took place in Mobile, Alabama and NOT New Orleans? Mais OUI, mon ami!
The city of Mobile is the oldest permanent settlement in the original Colony of French Louisiana! Mobile’s Mardi Gras is the oldest official Carnival celebration in the United States, started by Frenchman Nicholas Langlois in 1703 when Mobile was the capital of Louisiana.
New Orleans and Mobile playfully tease each other about who truly deserves the credit for Mardi Gras. It’s a lighthearted topic among residents of both cities, and the mayors of Mobile and New Orleans have even engaged in friendly banter on social media. To add a humorous twist, Mobile’s mayor issues a proclamation every year, granting New Orleans “permission” to celebrate Mardi Gras!
