Desert Adventures Vail AZ. We had two great couples join us on a silver mine tour. We also offer ATV tours. I go over ATV operational instructions and then head up to the Chief Silver mine. Park out ATVs, get on our knee pads and helmets with lights on. We start the decent into the abyss.

First level is at 125'. We make sure everyone has a face gator for dust, and give them a few bottles of water. We then hold onto the 1" diameter rope and continue to descend down the main shaft until 450'. We passed a ladder and wooden ore shute. Now at the 450' level is a dead head. A dead head is meant to diffuse the crash when the ore cart cable snaps..

We explore the right drift while admiring the original mine graffiti and go to the end of the drift. Then we go back into the left drift where we find a stope. A wooden man made structure which allows the miners to go up vertically to chase the silver ore vein.

At this point, you are now 650' underground. We take many photos during the mine tour. We head up to the surface, go back to the shop and have lunch with wonderful folks. I assure that the mine and ATV tour are a "Once in a lifetime experience".
