Happy Black Bear Day

Today is National Trails Day and also National Black Bear Day!

Go out on the Parkway today and enjoy the views from many of our fantastic trails. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring plenty of water and snacks!

If you do happen to run into bears on the trail, be sure to keep them at a distance of at least 100 yards and if you see cubs, steer clear because if there are cubs, there is likely a mother nearby as well.

Morning world! This is Brasstown Bald Mountain taken yesterday after that small front came thru. Altho it did snow a little up there, this is from the frozen moisture passing thru. Again, demonstrating how Brasstown literally has their own climate that doesn't play by the rules...

Northern Lights

Aurora Update Tonight(Dec 1st midnight-4am): The newest outlook for the Northern Lights shows the chance for seeing the Northern Lights is dropping far south tonight.

If you are north of the green line, then you'll need to look towards northern horizon. If you're north of the pink line, then just look up.

A strong geomagnetic storm will impact our atmosphere tonight and many will have the chance to see the Northern Lights this evening (if skies are clear)

A few things that we are still watching, how much of the solar flare will impact our atmosphere and of course, CLOUDS!

Clouds could really mess this up for many of us. But, if there's a few breaks after midnight, then this could become quite spectacular.
