Happy School: Social, educational project 📚🏞️

The Huaypo lagoon, before the eyes, is a tourist paradise, a place that someday will be in the hands of more than 200 children of the "Juan Velazco Alvarado" school. That is why this project was born, which contains the following social campaigns:

Learning Together 👩🏻🏫👨🏽🏽🏫.
We will bring specialists in conservation, biodiversity and environmental sustainability, to give talks on these topics to school classrooms, where parents are also invited to participate.

A library for all 💻📖.
We want to fill their library with more books, good computers and a projector, thus, meeting the need of the students and boosting their capabilities.

Children's Earth 🌱
We will enable a vegetable garden in the school and turn it into the children's land, teaching them what they need to thrive their crops.

Eco♻️ Zone.
Our goal is to elaborate a space where waste can be sorted, within the school facilities, making the respective coordinations so that this garbage, reaches the corresponding recycling space. Subsequently, expand this "Eco Zones" in different parts of the community.

With our feet in Huaypo: Sustainable tourism 🏞️

The Huaypo lagoon, undoubtedly a beautiful destination, thanks to its landscapes and inhabitants, who live under the traditions and culture of the Andes. This initiative seeks to include sustainable tourism as part of the economic activities:

The founder of Terra Explorer, along with other collaborators, will give talks on sustainable tourism development.

Facing the adventure 🚵🏽
Young people interested in adventure tourism will have the opportunity to receive training and obtain pre-professional internships at Terra Explorer.

Birds of Huaypo, interpretation center 🦩
Thanks to research conducted by Terra Explorer, 30 species of endemic and other migratory birds have been identified. This project aims to build a research center and to collect telescopes and other necessary equipment that can be used by locals and tourists.

Casitas Huaypo 🧶
Some inhabitants of Huaypo, stand out for being master weavers, and others, for maintaining ancestral traditions on agriculture and planting native foods. With this project, we want to bring tourists closer to the life of these people who maintain their millenary culture in their work.

We're supporting women's education in the Andes. Here's how 👇

This year we've partnered with the Sacred Valley Project, a nonprofit enabling women's education in the rural Andes of Peru.

Their Homeric efforts have been laured by the Obama Foundation thorugh its Girls Opportunity Alliance.

In Peru —as in much of the less-industrialized world— poverty is tightly knitted to geographical isolation. The further a woman is from urban hubs, the less accessible public services and job opportunities become. And so, to many young girls inhabiting the sparsely populated Sacred Valley, secondary schools are miles and miles away. Subsequently, (absent) transportation becomes an issue.

Some other families, without ill intent, simply need more hands at their subsistence-level farms. To their eyes, time at school could be better utilized in the fields. Add to that lingering sexism, and you have a dismal, corrosive recipe for unschooled women unable to break off from a seemingly never-ending poverty cycle.

The mission of the Sacred Valley Project is to provide education, but to ensure it, you must fill in for the host of other absent public services. You have to eliminate "friction" so parents do not feel compelled to take the girls out of class and into the fields.

But the work here isn't anywhere to be done. The Sacred Valley Project is still a small-scale organization, and these contributions merely increase its reach and scope. So donations are always welcomed.
