Osmo Oil Wax is a high-quality finish that is designed to protect and enhance the natural beauty of timber. This versatile finish is perfect for Tasmanian Oak, which is a popular hardwood species used in furniture and flooring. In this blog, we will provide you with a step-by-step guide on how to apply Osmo Oil Wax on Tas Oak timber.

Step 1: Prepare the Surface

Before applying any finish, it is important to prepare the surface properly. Start by sanding the Tas Oak timber with 120-grit sandpaper to remove any roughness or imperfections. Once you have sanded the surface, use a vacuum cleaner or a damp cloth to remove any dust or debris.

Step 2: Apply the First Coat

Now it's time to apply the first coat of Osmo Oil Wax. We recommend applying the finish thinly and evenly along the grain of the timber. You can apply the oil wax manually using a brush, roller or cloth, or you can use a machine buff. If you choose to apply the finish manually, make sure to work quickly and avoid overlapping areas to prevent streaking. If you prefer to use a machine buff, use a white or beige pad and work in small sections.

Step 3: Allow the First Coat to Dry

After you have applied the first coat, allow it to dry for at least 8-10 hours. The drying time may vary depending on the temperature and humidity levels in your area. We recommend waiting until the surface is completely dry before applying the second coat.

Step 4: Apply the Second Coat

Once the first coat is completely dry, you can apply the second coat of Osmo Oil Wax. Again, apply the finish thinly and evenly along the grain of the timber. Make sure to work quickly and avoid overlapping areas to prevent streaking.

Step 5: Allow the Second Coat to Dry

After you have applied the second coat, allow it to dry for at least 8-10 hours. Again, the drying time may vary depending on the temperature and humidity levels in your area. Once the surface is completely dry, you can use a fine-grit sandpaper (220-grit) to lightly sand the surface if desired.

Step 6: Enjoy the Result

Congratulations! You have successfully applied Osmo Oil Wax on Tas Oak timber. The finish is durable and easy to maintain, and it will enhance the grain of the timber beautifully. Osmo Oil Wax is also resistant to water and dirt, making it an ideal choice for high-traffic areas.

In conclusion, applying Osmo Oil Wax on Tas Oak timber is a simple and straightforward process. By following these six steps, you can achieve a stunning finish that will protect and enhance the natural beauty of your timber for years to come. Remember to apply the finish thinly and evenly along the grain of the timber, and allow each coat to dry completely before applying the next. Enjoy your beautiful, finished Tas Oak timber!
