Cambodia - oh my heart! Watch the full replay of the Cambodia trip information session on YouTube!
Do you love feeling history around you when you travel and capturing little moments of history joy?
Down every laneway, behind every old shopfront there is something to discover. From an old silversmith, to a courtyard for an iced coconut coffee, to a lantern making workshop and the central market. Hoi An dates back to the 15th century, and has been recognised as a UNESCO world heritage site.
It’s a beautiful spot to include on your next visit to Vietnam? Have you been?

What’s cooking? Any guesses?
🐀… I politely declined! But there were heaps of people enjoying it - a tasty, charcoal grilled beer snack!

A true family cooking class outside of Siem Reap is an absolute highlight of the Cambodia Explorer! Start off by meeting Sophos (the skilled chef and owner of the cooking school) and visiting a small, fresh food market. Purchase the veggies, herbs, coconut milk, meat and seafood needed for the cook and head to his home to begin the preparations.
You get to cook some highlight dishes of Khmer cuisine, and then some of what you’ve made gets packed up into tiered metal containers (like a tiffin) and you hop back into the TukTuks for a short ride to the local temple to give alms and offer up the food for the local monks. A very special experience.
Back to the home and it’s time to eat!! Delish!
A beautiful insight into a local family and their life in a village just outside of Siem Reap.
If this sounds like something you might enjoy, check out my next Cambodia Explorer trip - 5 - 13 October 2025. And register for my online trip information session - coming up on Thursday 20th March at 8pm AEDT!

Egg coffee…. Hhmmmmm.
Are you a yes please? Or a no, thanks!!??
It’s actually super tasty, I’ve tried both the hot and the iced version (I’d recommend hot) and basically it’s coffee that’s then blended with a mix of egg, sugar and condensed milk. The egg is beaten for ten minutes until it becomes similar to meringue consistency!
Egg coffee is a northern Vietnam invention and Hanoi is home to some amazing cafes which specialise in egg coffee but you can find it through the country.
If you’re super keen, there’s even a chance to do an egg coffee making workshop in Hoi An! You can add this is as an option on one of our Vietnam tours 😃
Central Vietnam (3-11 May) LAST CHANCE!
Epic Vietnam (22 Oct - 7 Nov) opening soon!
Thanks to Erin for demonstrating the egg coffee drinking in Hoi An last year! Tough job 😹 but someone has to do it!!
