🦧 don't go on an orangutan watching holiday if...

🤗 ...you want to cuddle them. Orangutans are genetically very similar to humans and can catch diseases from us; a common cold can kill a young orangutan fast.
👶🏼...you want to see babies. Most rehabilitation centres keep their tinier residents in separate enclosures away from the crowds until they’re big enough to fend for themselves.
😌...you don’t like stepping out of your comfort zone. Borneo and Sumatra are a long way from home, the food is different, the jungle is untamed, and even seeing orangutans in a sanctuary requires a certain amount of walking in heat, humidity and bug filled forests.
🦟...you’re freaked out by leeches, or mosquitoes, or mud! That wild orangutans still have some unspoiled forests is something to be celebrated – and that means accepting all the creepy crawlies that come with it.

I read this recently on the Responsible Travel website and it really resonated with me and the Borneo trips I have planned for 2025!

It's been a week since I've got home from taking THREE AMAZING WOMEN'S GROUP TRIPS to Southern Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos!!

𝐇𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐥 𝐭𝐨 𝐋𝐚𝐨𝐬? It's seriously underrated as a destination! And yes, it's not the easiest place to get to.... BUT it's worth it!!

We spent six days travelling in Laos, visiting the beautiful UNESCO old town of Luang Prabang and the capital city, Vientiane.

🌅 Cruising on the Mekong River to the Pak Ou Caves and returning at sunset

🌊 Swimming in the bright, aquamarine waters of the Kuang Si waterfalls
🧣 Exploring the handcrafted textiles, created by women from 49 ethnic groups across Laos at the Textile and Ethnology Centre and Ock Pop Tok Living Arts Centre
🍚 Lunching by the Mekong at the beautiful Ock Pop Tok Living arts centre
🛕 Waking before dawn to take part in the giving Alms Ceremony and donating sticky rice to monks from the many temples in town
🥖 Sensational food, in simple places (and fancy places) throughout our stay in Laos!
🛖 Eating at some of the amazing NGO / Social Enterprise restaurants
🚄 Taking the new, super fast train to the capital Vientiane

💚 I can't think all the women who were on the Laos trip enough, you are all amazing! 💚

Thao shares what we got up to during our Mekong Delta exploration!!

𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐳𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐧 𝐕𝐢𝐞𝐭𝐧𝐚𝐦 𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐩! 💚

We just had the most incredible time! 6 amazing women were a part of this trip, some exploring Vietnam for the first time.

We began our trip in gorgeous Hoi An, and spent four days soaking up the atmosphere of this old town, it truly is a special place to spend time and just wander. Then we flew to Can Tho (the fifth largest city and in the Mekong Delta), we spent three days exploring the Mekong, staying along the river, and taking plenty of boat rides! We finished off our adventure in Saigon, the busy, beating heart of Vietnam! ♥️

𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗳𝗮𝘃𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗩𝗶𝗲𝘁𝗻𝗮𝗺!
🚴🏾‍♀️ Bike riding through the countryside of Hoi An, visiting small family producers
🧵 Doing a traditional indigo tie-dye workshop in an artist's studio
👩🏼‍🍳 Learning how to make green mango salad, and red dragonfruit sticky rice (amongst other delicious things!) in a superb cooking class
🏮 Getting our craft on and making lanterns
🙋🏽‍♀️ Spending time with the most wonderful, kind and joyous women
🛶 Gliding silently through the canals of the Mekong River on a traditional sampan boat
🥖 Eating not one but two bánh mì in one day!
🛖 Staying in two gorgeous, rustic home stay lodges in the Mekong Delta
🍍 Boating through the floating markets of Can Tho
☕️ Drinking coconut, salt and egg coffees as well as traditional Vietnamese iced coffees with condensed milk!
🍹 Living it up at a beautiful resort on the Mekong, 3kms from the border with Cambodia
🍽️ Eating at Luke Nguyen's Vietnam House restaurant in Saigon

💚 I can't think all the women who were on the Vietnam trip enough, you are all amazing! 💚

We loved having you on the trip The Adventures of Poss and Ruby!!

I was lucky enough to join on the inaugural tour of Laos and be a part of this exceptional group of women as we explored, laughed and learnt. As a predominantly solo traveller it was really nice to find a tribe that were like-minded, kind, independent women who love to travel 🧳
