While we are in Cambodia in November, it will also be Bon Om Touk, also known as the Cambodian Water Festival! 💦 The festival is over three days (this year it's 14 - 16 November) and marks the end of the monsoon season.

🐲🛶 There will be dragon boat races, special performances and parties to celebrate throughout the country! And we will be there to experience it! Yippeee!

🇲🇾 Nine things you might not know about Borneo...

1. Borneo is an island 🏝️ consisting of 3 nations - Malaysia, Indonesia (Kalimantan) and Brunei.
2. Within Malaysian Borneo 🇲🇾, there are two states - Sabah and Sarawak
3. Kota Kinabalu is the capital of Sabah and Kuching is the capital of Sarawak 🌇
4. It's the third largest island in the world!
5. Borneo is home to amazing biodiversity - there are about 15,000 species of flowering plants with 3,000 species of trees , 221 species of terrestrial mammals and 420 species of birds in Borneo.
6. The rainforests 🌳 in Borneo are 130 million years old!
7. Borneo is the only place you can find the Bornean orangutan, pygmy elephant, clouded leopard, North-Borneo gibbon, Sunda pangolin, and many species of hornbill.
8. 🦧 It’s one of two places in the world where you can see Orangutans in the wild (Sumatra, Indonesia is the other place)
9. There are estimated to be 170 ethnic languages in Borneo

We’d packed up our home, said goodbye to our family and friends and set off for a 5 month adventure across Australia! 🚘 This was us today 12 months ago! Our first night on the road in our little van!

We covered lots of kms, sweltered in the top end, swam in murky swimming holes, and saw so much of our beautiful country! So many memories 🥰

Could you eat this? 🪳Insects are big business in Cambodia! Spiders, silk worms, cockroaches and crickets are all frequently deep fried with all kinds of special spices, pepper and garlic and served as a snack! 🕷️

I wanted to introduce myself properly! 👋🏽

I'm Penny, Chief Traveller and Trip Designer at Pip & Co Travel!

I've been a travel addict since my parents first took me on my first overseas trip to New Zealand when I was 9 years old. Since then I've lived in the UK, Viet Nam, China and Estonia and travelled to over 40 countries. My other passion is language learning, and I've spent years learning and studying languages, especially Vietnamese, Japanese, Chinese and French.

Pip & Co Travel has evolved out of both my personal love of travelling (and having meaningful cultural experiences while away) and my professional experience of working in the tourism industry for 20 years.

I take great pride in researching and curating the best experiences possible.

Food is an incredibly important part of my travels, and on Pip & Co Travel trips. 😊Expect your meals, restaurants and cafe stops to be extremely well thought out, showcasing the best of the destination’s cuisine.

Asia is my absolute favourite place to be, and if I had to choose I would find it tough to name my favourite country, but Viet Nam, Japan, Taiwan, France, the Netherlands and China would be top on my list!

Last year, together with my husband and two travel-loving daughters, now aged 7 & 4, we embarked on a 5 month road trip around Australia. We took a camper trailer and explored South Australia, Northern Territory, Queensland and NSW. We loved it!

Angkor Thom, one of the temples we will be exploring on our Cambodia trip in November and a very impressive structure! It was a fortified city and was once the capital city. It's huge! Covering 9 square kms, it was constructed in the late 12th Century.

🗺️ Do you want to explore the culture and history of Cambodia this November? (Not just temples, I promise!!)
