“We had a wonderful stay with Pru and Paul who are delightful hosts. It was like staying with old friends in their guest suite. The space was wonderful and spacious with enough private outside to enjoy in the evening over a bottle of wine. The area is secluded yet close enough to Ruffec to shop and eat out too. We highly recommend staying here and we will certainly be back ourselves!”

Welcome to Orchard Common Gites, a beautiful 2 bedroom self contained holiday home located in the Charente region of South West France. Sleeping up to six (max 4 adults) we have taken every care to ensure that your stay with us is relaxing and stress free - you can even bring your dog as the gite has a fully fenced private garden.
Now taking bookings for 2017 BUT at discounted rates until the New Year - deposit secures the price - however July and August are already selling fast and the only remaining dates are 1st, 15th, 22nd July and 12th August. High season 22/7 to 02/09 is £500 per week and all other weeks are £400 BUT any reservations before the New Year will be £50 a week less.
Fully fitted with a dishwasher, washing machine, fridge freezer, free sat box with English channels, DVD player (extensive DVD collection available to borrow), indoor and outdoor eating areas and a seasonal above ground swimming pool all set in 1.5 acres of stunning French countryside.
We are in a quiet hamlet yet within 10 minute drive of local towns with supermarkets, bars, shops and restaurants.
Open all year, the gite has a pellet burner to keep you warm whatever the weather.

F.A.Q.s
Where is the gite and how do I get there?
We are situated in the Charente region of SW France just off the N10. The nearest town is Ruffec. Whether travelling by ferry or Eurotunnel we are easy to reach. Le Havre and Caen are about a 5.5 hour drive, Dieppe is 6.5 hours and Calais is about 7.5 hours. All these routes include toll roads, allow about 45 euros for these. Alternatively you can fly to Poitiers, Limoges, Bordeaux or La Rochelle and then rent a car - you do need a car as we are rural and there is no public transport.

What is there to do locally?
Loads! We are very close to:-
A swimming lake with its own sandy beach.
A cycle monorail
Local river with canoe hire
Vallee de singes (monkey valley)
Futuroscope
Water parks
Cognac
Verteuil historic village amongst others.

We are also able to accept payments on a weekly or monthly basis at no extra cost, and take the deposit £300 in either sterling or euros. Deposit is returned at check out assuming everything is in order.

UPDATE - only week commencing 27th August left now for summer holidays - first come first served!

Welcome to our gite near Ruffec in the Charente, SW France. We have had a couple of cancellations for the summer holidays so have weeks commencing 6th August and 27th August still available at £450 per week - and you can pay in sterling so no worries about the euro rate! Also other weeks outside school holidays at £350 per week, sleeps up to 6 (Max 4 adults). The gite is brand new for 2016, is fully equipped and is pet friendly. Any questions please ask!
