Oh, Whidbey Island! What a sweet little island you are. On a quick visit to Seattle, I got to take the ferry over to the island (an experience I have been looking forward to for a long time!), and drive up to Deception Pass, and through the waterfront towns of Oak Harbour and Coupeville. Deception Pass was everything I wish for in the Pacific Northwest, from the scent of the forest to the lush, mossy trails along the coast.
On the trip back, we stopped at the Farm Stand, where I picked up some salsas, but on a sunny day, I imagine the scent of waffle cones would have lured me into a giant ice cream cone.
Oak Harbour is a decent sized town on the north end of the island, complete with your standard hotels and restaurants (a lot of fast food, but I'll allow it), and serves the nearby naval station. The waterfront is filled with cute shops, thrift stores and of course, ice cream parlors.
In Coupeville, we stopped for fish and chips at Toby's and enjoyed the views both inside and out over the water. Coupeville is a perfectly quaint waterfront town, and I can't wait to go back and stay in one of the B&B's near the main street.
Though it was a rainy Monday and a lot of shops were closed, Whidbey stole a little piece of my heart. I can't wait to go back and spend a few days exploring.
If you're interested in learning more about Whidbey, or looking for a weekend getaway, I'd be thrilled to talk further!

I looked into quick trips that could embrace Valentine's Day, and to my surprise, found that there are 4 towns in the US called Valentine. They are all small towns, and some embrace the theme more than others (looking at you, Nebraska), but the one thing I learned is that the post office is the most popular spot in all 4 towns...

On this Valentine's Day, we send our best wishes for a day filled with love, wherever you find it!

Oh, Valentine’s Day! There are so many opinions on the day itself, and I don't disagree with most of them (regardless of the position), but I also love the idea behind the day!

I don't know about you, but I could use some white sand beaches and brilliant blue waters, and the Dominican Republic is calling my name! And with the diversity of the island, deciding exactly where to stay is the big question!

Punta Cana is the entertainment hub of the Dominican Republic and also happens to have those gorgeous white sand beaches for your relaxation needs. With golf, snorkeling, zip-lining and off-road tours, there is no shortage of adventurous activities to keep your stay interesting.

Puerto Plata, on the other hand, has the mountains, watersports, diving, canyoning, concerts, and archeological ruins that will satisfy those who like adventure and education. Not to mention, it is host to the only cable car in the Caribbean.

Santo Domingo is the largest Caribbean city and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Santo Domingo is the place for those who love history, culture, nightlife, and amazing food.

La Romana is the place to go when your group doesn't agree on what makes a great vacation! World-class golf venues, sailing, snorkeling, deep-sea fishing, shopping, fine dining, and lively concerts will keep your whole group entertained!

From all-inclusive, adults only resorts to inexpensive but highly rated bed and breakfasts, the Dominican Republic has accommodations (and a price range) to please every traveler.

Depending on your timing, those folks that are able to fly on an off-day (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday), flights are running less than $500/person round trip from LA or San Fransisco, making a week in the Dominican Republic an incredible destination!

Now is the time to get away to a warm, white sand beach, and we are here to get you there, or anywhere!

For as long as I can remember, I have adored Groundhog Day. A cute little groundhog popping up out of his little house to predict the weather was as impressive as the Magic 8 Ball that directed my childhood decisions. From the the tradition of the whole event (who speaks groundhogese??) to cute little animals that live in underground burrows (thank you, Richard Scarry), on February 2nd, I wake up excited to see what Phil has to say.
I have yet to visit Punxsutawney for Phil’s big day, but I hope to witness it just once (and only once, unlike the movie!), so I did a little research on the area to see what else might be waiting for me to explore. So many places I research don't have a great balance of activities for differing interests or abilities (indoor/outdoor, relaxing/active, educational/non), but Punxsutawney seems to be a great place for all! Though it’s a small town, with not a lot of lodging options, the lodging available is standard fare (think Holiday Inn Express), and there appears to be a variety of dining options, as well as some interesting local breweries and distilleries. There are educational activities like the Punxsutawney Weather Discovery Center or the historical walks that seem to be everywhere, outdoor activities like hiking along the Mahoning Shadow Trail, relaxing activities like picnicking at Gobbler’s K**b Park, and shopping galore (antiques, but shopping nonetheless). And of course, there is Phil. Phil lives a very cushy life in a protected area attached to the city library, which is obviously why he has lived so much longer than any other groundhog (side note, please don't bother telling me Phil is played by a new groundhog every few years, I simply won't believe you).
So should you find yourself in Pennsylvania, and looking for something different,, I would suggest stopping by to check out the area, at any time of year. If you happen to find yourself there on an actual Groundhog Day, please share the fun with us! We will be happy to explore vicariously through YOU! -Erin

We looooove a good sunset. There is something about the warm colors of a sunset that brings peace and calm to wrap up the day. From the stunning colors in the desert to the warm glow along the beach, the serenity and awe is a feeling that I long for.

Where is your favorite place to watch the sun touch down at the end of the day? If you're like us, and love a beautiful sunset, we'd love to help you find the perfect place.

Where in the world will your adventures take you in 2024?

We have been working on this HUGE puzzle of the world and it has me feeling very inspired! We live on this big ball of fascinating and diverse places and I want to see them all! No matter what I am looking for, I am certain to find it somewhere in the world. If I want a lush rainforest with beautiful birds and hiking and few people, I can find it. If I want to explore coral reefs near a beautiful beach, I can find it. If I want to sit in the middle of a big, open field and watch the wildlife, I can do it. If I want the best in art, or music, or food, or shopping, or golf, it is there for me. Our world is filled with magic! From snow to sun, from big city to big open space, and from near by to far away, there is adventure everywhere.
One of my big dreams is to spend time volunteering in a panda sanctuary. I cannot get enough of panda videos and I have definitely kicked that up on my list of things to do in my lifetime. I'm always plotting and planning how to make it happen!
What is it that you dream of, and what pieces of your puzzle are missing to make it happen? We would love to help get you to your dream!!
