Its time for your next photo wildlife Excursion. Since 1993 i arrange photo safaris all over the world. For me its important to send you, my clients, to the right place at the best time. The great migration in Kenya, Orca and humpbacks feeding in Norway, Right whales in Patagonia! Puma in Chile and penguins at the Falkland Islands. Polar bears by foot in Canada, Snowleopards in India! Spermwhales in the Azores and Djelada Baboons in Ethiopia. Blue and Makosharks in the Mid Atlantic and turtles hedging in Kenya......to be at the right spot at prime time and still respect nature and wildlife. To sensibilise my guests for the problems of the planet and organise filming for some of the most importat nature documentaries we have, thats what i love to do.

Pico Sport - Azores - opens 24th June 2020 !!!
Here is another story of my life. When I came 1993 the first time to Pico islnd I fell in love with this wonderful remote place. It motivated me to buy a little piece of land and open a diving centre. In 1996 I created Pico Sport which is now one of the oldest whale watching bases in the Archipel.
Dolphins always fascinated me. Pico is a meeting place for whales and dolphins in the Mid Atlantic. Here they find food, they reproduce and they migrate between the Islands. Some species are residents, some come from the open Ocean like the spotted dolphins.
We are working hard to open by the end of June and run our whale and dolphin tours according to the regulations that are in place at the moment. Our crew is prepared, our shop is ready and our boats will be sanitized according to the current rules. Pico is a save place to be, its free of Corona at the moment.

Puma Safari February 2020 - 13 Puma in 4 days!!!
Since 4 days we are in Tore del Paine NP in Chile where Robert Wälter and Flo are leading our first Puma Tour this year. Its a fantastic result because we saw 1 mother with 4 cubs that are one year old. This morning we saw another female with 2 little cubs. Falkland News
Since 2 month there are 2 leopard seals that started to hunt on Gentoo penguins at Bleakers Island.
We decided to include this wonderful nature place into our schedules. Read below what you can expect:

The Gentoo Penguins colony (2000 pairs) on perfect white sand beach nest only 2km from lodge. There are excellent photo situations at sunrise. A leopard seal predating Gentoos and Magellanics has been present for 3 months now.

Rockhopper Penguins (800 pairs) nesting in tussac fringe on low cliffs, 800m from settlement. Very good for sunrise.
Good rock cormorant site here also. Occasional sightings of macaroni penguins.

King/Imperial Cormorants colony (8000 pairs) are 500m from lodge. Very good at all times of year. Chicks will be fledging in late feb - some learning to fly. Very interesting.

There are Magellanic Penguins widely distributed - down entire east coast of island.

There are breeding southern giant petrels here in quite large groups which we can guide you to. (a half day trip from the lodge) and we will use a landcruiser to go there.

Ponds near Sandy Bay are good for teal, duck and grebe species.

There is a breeding night heron colony very close to the lodge - great for photography.

Some sea lions still here in Feb which we can guide you to.

So we have spaces left on our trips from 29th February to 14th March 2020 .....
we visit also Volunteer Pount with the huge King Penguin colony, Saunders Island and Carcass Island. A livetime trip for wildlife photographers and nature lovers !!!!!

Whale Watch Terceira is a Pico Sport Product and will open in Angra do Heroísmo in just 1 week. We will work from Angra with Nuno Sá and National Geographic on an ORF Universum production with Erich Pröll during the next weeks starting after the 10th June. Also the BBC Earth / Blue Planet / OCEANS production will proceed and we hope to film many species to document the biodiversity of the Azores marine life. The Visualmuno Drone Team will participate in both productions and we hope to film aereal shots like this on from sperm whales taken in June 2015 2 miles south from Madalena do Pico. Also regular Whale Watching will be operated as well as snorkeling with Dolphins from Terceira Island. As Air Berlin started direct flights to Terceira Ilha from Düsseldorf Airport once a week for less than 200 Euro round trip its a great chance to come for a whale watching week to the Azores. Visit Azores and enjoy also great food. Fresh fish daily and Bio meat from Azores cows that are out in the green 24h each day of the year, eating fresh grass and breathe atlantic air. That means great cheese, great fish and great meat in Restaurants like O Pirata Gastropub in Angra and the first class fish restaurant Restaurant Beira Mar, Sao Mateus, Terciera, Azores, Middle of the Atlantic at Terceira.
