Last but certainly not least for our Top Travel Destinations for Pride is Colombia- the second most biodiverse country in the world has endless wilderness to explore. Bogotá has several welcoming LGBTQ+ areas- Chapinero, La Candelaria, Monserrate. A large export of Columbia is flowers-- especially roses.

The destination that I'll focus on for the 29th is Taiwan, the home of bubble tea! It's considered one of the most LGBTQ+ friendly destinations in Asia. They have the world’s first gender-diverse minister and anti-discrimination laws. In 2022 the Human Freedom Index put Taiwan at the top of their list for the freest country in Asia.

Day 28 of our Top LGBTQIA Travel Destinations lands us in Spain- the birthplace of Flamenco, this beautiful country hosts one of the largest Pride celebrations in the world. Spanish is one of the most popular languages in the world with over 580 million speakers worldwide. There's also Circuit which is a week-long festival held in Barcelona in August. Pride Month is almost over but we aren't finished yet... Next up is Portugal- Pride is held in June or July and often has multiple weekends of celebrations. All of the big cities have their own gayborhood and friendly locals. Lisbon has several popular areas including Bairro Alto which is know for its night life and Principe Real with their fashionable shops and tasty restaurants. Image of Belem Tower in Lisbon.

Next up: Italy hosts huge Pride celebrations in June throughout the country. La Lecciona Beach in Torre del Lago Puccini is said to be Italy's most famous gay beach. Rome is home to a spectacular scene including Gay Street di Roma, an area considered one of the best places to explore for Pride in Italy. Same-sex Civil unions have been legal since 2016.

Day 25 of our Pride Month destinations brings us around to Ireland- Check out The George in Dublin, an epic nightclub featuring drag shows and bingo. Dublin also hosts Ireland's only LGBTQ+ film festival, Gaze. VisitDublin.com states that their annual Pride Festival rivals the size of their St. Patrick's celebration! Ireland is on my list of destinations for this as well as it's beautiful sights, friendly culture, and rich history.

Day 24 is for Nepal- A progressive country with a yearly Pride celebration and laws protecting LGBTQ+ from discrimination. Home to Mt. Everest (pictured) , Nepal has an abundance of mountains and dramatic altitude changes. It's primarily a Hindu country and the birthplace of Buddha There's over 140 different ethnic groups speaking a variety of languages with their own traditions.

Today is Iceland- a friendly country offering great protections and a large scene including an annual Pride that brings in nearly ⅓ of the country's population to celebrate. Despite its name Iceland is full of greenery and home to the world's largest puffin colony. Sweden- Stockholm has hosted EuroPride 3x. The Swedish language has a gender neutral pronoun- hen. There's 29 national parks, 90000 lakes and 3000km of coastline. Fun fact: Sweden is so good at recycling their waste (with only 1% used as landfill, 50% recycled and the remainder burnt to generate energy) that they actually import waste from other countries (mainly Norway and the UK) which pay for the privilege! Have you ever considered Ecuador for a vacation? Quito hosts an annual Pride and a yearly LGBTQ+ film festival. Guayaquil and Cuenca are two other areas considered welcoming with a gay community! Ecuador's official name is "Republica del Ecuador” – the Republic of the Equator, as it practically splits the country in two.

Day 19: China- Shanghai is an inclusive and accepting area with Pride festivals starting in 2009. It is home to several gay bars like Shanghai Studio and Eddy’s Bar. Hong Kong also offers a vibrant LGBTQ+ community.

Next up on our LGBTQIA+ Top Travel Destinations is Peru- Lima and Cusco have a growing scene, with bars in Miraflores and Barranco. The ancient Inca flag looks similar to a Pride flag, but it's important to note that Peru is fairly conservative still, despite having legalized same-sex activity since 1924. Today is Puerto Rico- this commonwealth has two annual pride parades, a Q***r film festival every November, and plenty of community options. It's home to El Nunque National Forest - the only tropical rainforest that's part of America! Puerto Rico has bioluminescent bays and over 300 miles of beach to explore.

Day 16 is a double-feature of Australia and New Zealand. There is support throughout Australia, including Sydney and Melbourne having plenty of community hangouts and nightlife and Pride in June. New Zealand is often considered even friendlier than Australia. Auckland is in the top 20 friendliest LGBTQ+ cities in the world. February is Pride Month! Day 15 brings us to Uruguay- One of South America's most liberal countries, for LGBTQ+ rights. Montevideo is a popular gay area and hosts the Marcha por la Diversidad, a Pride celebration. Punta Pride is another celebration full of fun (on a beach!). The chamber of commerce hosts an annual convention to showcase the best of Uruguay’s LGBT travel. Below is Cabo Polonio at sunset.
