What color should an officiant wear? I believe black and if not black, a sedate, dark color like navy or gray. As the officiant you are not the center of attention and should therefore blend into the scenery. I give couples a choice so they can choose. I offer a black clergy robe with or without a religious stole, a dark colored dress or their choice. I also offer a white clergy robe with or without a religious stole. Whatever you choose to wear as the officiant please remember this is not about you. Do not do what is done in this photo!!

Such a fun wedding weekend. I pronounced Emily McNeeley and Nicholas Shows married at Secluded Cabins Event Center. Then I headed to Hillcrest Farms to pronounce Alec Neundorfer and Jessica Klingshirn husband and wife. Beautiful fall weather for a wedding. Check out this adorable ring bear!!

What a beautiful day for a wedding! Blasé Chiappone and Alyssa Reale chose to share their promises at Tall Oaks Event Center in Chillicothe, a favorite venue of mine. Alyssa’s dress was amazing.

What time should your wedding reception begin. The general recommendation is begin your reception no later than one hour after the wedding ceremony. If you plan to have a greater amount of time between the two, you will need to plan a number of activities to keep your guest busy. Guests generally understand that here will be a gap of time so that photos can be taken but they are hoping there is a cocktail hour to keep them busy. When planning the time outline for you day, please keep your guests in mind.

Are you planning your wedding and struggling to decide if you need to have favors for your guests? Although they can be a nice touch, they really aren't seen as a requirement anymore. If you feel you want to have favors, consider selecting a consumable rather than a trinket or something with your names on it. Oprah has actually created a list of 20 unique wedding favors that is worth looking at. I especially like these two ideas.

A name change is not required of any spouse upon marriage. If you decide to change your name as the result of a marriage, you will need to the Social Security Administration, Bureau of Motor Vehicles, the Board of Elections, credit card companies, utility companies and financial institutions. Employers should also be notified of the change of marital status.

Although my daughter, Kristen, doesn't often agree to do a wedding ceremony, a couple requested her services. She pronounced them married ten years ago. Yesterday she did a vow renewal ceremony for them. They wanted her to do the ceremony because she did such a wonderful job the first time!

It was a very rainy wedding day but the skies cleared up just in time for Patrick Stickel and Rachel Buhrow to become husband and wife. To make sure the rain stayed away, the couple buried a bottle of bourbon on the property of their venue, Basil Place. This is an old Southern custom that seemed to work very well for this couple. Basil Place is definitely another beautiful venue worth checking out.

If rain on your wedding day brings a couple good luck, Kirill Richardson and Tatiana Bitner will have nothing but sunshine in the years ahead. The skies decided to just dump and dump right at the time the ceremony was to begin. We were to have the ceremony in front of the Cleveland Museum of Art and by the pond. That didn’t happen as we all needed to dash up the marble steps of the museum to get some protection. We even needed someone to put their marriage license under the hand blower in the restroom. A day we will all remember. Beautiful couple.

I have the busiest wedding weekend I've had in a while. It began at 10:00 AM when I had the honor or pronouncing Derek Quade and Elizabeth Humes husband and wife. From there I went to The Club at Hillbrook to help with a rehearsal. I have another rehearsal at 4:30 and then a wedding at 6:30. More tomorrow and Sunday.
