Want to travel in a life style that will make your friends envious? Want to be the center of attention at your next cocktail party or family event? See the USA in one the most unique ways, via an exclusive Private Railroad Passenger Car. Think of a private yacht on steel wheels. Amtrak Certified, this passenger car includes a lounge with working wood burning fire place, two bedrooms, separate bath

rooms, dining room, and kitchen; all connected to most any Amtrak passenger train and travel up to 110 MPH throughout the Continental US. Add a chef and porter, and your family will be pampered while taking in magnificent views some of which are only visible by rail. History:
The Francis L Suter was built by Pullman in 1914 for the Pennsylvania Railroad as an working executive Railroad Car for the PRR President or Vice President plus his secretary and crew. For most of its life it was called the Illinois and numbered 7506. In 1957 it was numbered 7503 and named the Harrisburg. It passed into private ownership in 1971. After passing through several owners, in 1992 was purchased by the previous owner who over several years made many prudent restorations, this railcar now looks again like a truly executive business railroad car. In December 2015 the current owner, Richard Stewart, purchased this railcar and created Private Rail Charters, LLC. Last Year’s Charters (some examples):
In October 2015, Mr. & Mrs. Stewart entertained 16 family members on a New York City to Pittsburgh 2-day round trip to see the New Jersey and Pennsylvania Fall Foliage color changes plus famous Horseshoe Shoe Curve, among many other beautiful sites. In May 2015, a private client and family chartered this same railcar for a 10-day vacation from Washington, DC to Chicago, Denver, California, Oregon, state of Washington and back to Washington, DC. This trip included a Philadelphia area Chef.

Our fourth piece of artwork on display throughout the cars of this year’s Operation Sgt. Santa is “Forward... all along the line!” Illustrating a 'united' effort of the public, railroads, and military working towards one common goal.

Our partners at the Military Railroad Society have been hard at work preparing for their four upcoming trips at Fort Eustis this month.

Our series of vintage railroad military and Christmas themed advertisements continues with an ad from 1944 that ran in LIFE Magazine. Depicted is a veteran returning from war to his previous post as a Pennsylvania Railroad Trainmen, highlighting many PRR staff who left their post on the railroad to serve in the United States Armed Forces.

Continuing with that theme, our friends at the Military Railroad Society are hosting Retired Military and Active Duty Servicemen and Women for Operation Sgt. Santa at Fort Eustis!

Are you interested in the 1 hour train ride aboard one of the 5 historic railcars participating this year?

Are you active duty, retired or a DOD card holder (or have a family member who is)?

If you answered yes to any of these questions - then we have a special treat for you!

Federal Railroad Administration Administrator Amit Bose with Richard Stewart, owner of the historic private passenger car Francis L. Suter.

Administrator Bose spoke at a fundraiser for the support of the Historic Pullman Foundation. Three historic private Pullman-built passenger cars were on display in Amtrak's Chicago Union Station for the fundraiser. Guests of the event were able to tour the cars.

The Francis L. Suter was built in 1914 by Pullman and included a wood burning fireplace. The fireplace, in the background, is still functioning.
