On the 14th of February Bulgarians celebrate the day of St. Trifon Zarezan.
In modern days it is called a celebration of Love and Wine.

One of the legends of Saint Trifon: Once, Saint Trifon went to his vineyard to cut the unnecessary branches from the vines. He was focused on his work when a beautiful woman passed by. He was so enchanted by her beauty, that he accidentally cut his nose with the clippers. This accident gave him his nickname – “Zarezan” which means “truncated”. St. Trifon was then crowned as the nimbus of wine and rejoicing.

On the 14th of February, the first thing in the morning men will go in the vineyard and start pruning the vines.
Bulgarians celebrate Trifon Zarezan in a simple way. They just gather with friends and go out for a drink.

March 1 - Baba Marta Day

A Martenitsa (is a small piece of adornment, made of white and red yarn and usually in the form of two dolls, a male and a female. Martenitsi are worn from Baba Marta Day (March 1) until the wearer first sees a stork or blossoming tree. The name of the holiday means "Grandma March" in Bulgarian and the wearing of Martenitsi are a Bulgarian tradition related to welcoming the spring, which according to Bulgarian folklore begins in March.

A typical Martenitsa consists of two small wool dolls, Pijo and Penda. Pijo, the male doll, is usually predominantly white; Penda, the female doll, is distinguished by her skirt and is usually predominantly red.
The red and white woven threads symbolize the wish for good health. They are the heralds of the coming of spring and of new life. While white as a color symbolizes purity, red is a symbol of life and passion, and so some ethnologists have proposed that, in its very origins, the custom might have reminded people of the constant cycle of life and death, the balance of good and evil, and the sorrow and happiness in human life. The Martenitsa is also a stylized symbol of Mother Nature, the white symbolizing the purity of the melting white snow and the red setting of the sun, which becomes more and more intense as spring progresses. These two natural resources are the source of life. They are also associated with the male and female beginnings, and in their balance, with the need for balance in life.

Bulgaria is a small beatiful country with four seasons.
In Spring storks are coming to nest. Everything is green and the new life begins. Amazing.
In Summer I go to the beach, my favourite activity is to chat with the waves. I am not a big swimmer, I am more a sandlover. Energizing.
Autumn is so colorful and calming. It is my favourite season.
In Winter people (not me) go to ski in the mountains. It is magical.
