Maine "Lobster Roll" Scooter Ride The "Lobster Roll" Scooter Ride is an 80-mile 125cc+ ride through scenic Maine, beginning in Portlan

Our ride starts on Saturday, the morning of August 3rd, 2013 at 10:00 A.M., in Portland. We'll make the trip up the coast following Route 1, a fun, medium-speed ride that passes through some of Midcoast Maine's most scenic roads and small villages. The ride ends during the last weekend of the Maine Lobster Festival in Rockland, Maine.

Well, I guess I can't put this off any longer. With a heavy heart, I have to announce that I won't be able to organize The 'Roll this year. As many of you know, this year I opened a food truck called Wich, Please. It's a dream come true, but it's keeping me busy with work weeks stretching well past 60 hours. That doesn't leave any time to organize things like this, even though, for me, the Lobster Roll is one of the most fun things about Summer in Maine. I'm also obligated to be open for business for every day of the Maine Lobster Festival, which would conflict with our traditional ride day.

This doesn't have to spell the end of the 'Roll! If someone else wants to organize, and keep this thing going, I'd be happy to pass the reins. Otherwise, I want to thank you all for four great years. I'll see you all again soon.

Hey Lobster Rollers! This could be the new venue for the end of the ride. I just need help making it happen. http://kck....

I'm quitting the grind, and putting YOUR money where MY mouth is. It's time to stop blogging about food, and start cooking for real.

Tomorrow's the big day! It looks like about a 40% chance of showers, but hopefully, it will clear just in time for the ride, the way it did last year. Bring your rain gear, and we'll see you in the morning!

The official website with all of this year's ride info has been UPDATED! A few quick ride notes, and please let me know if you have any questions:

1. I'm very pleased to announce that this year's ride will feature a 50cc class, for smaller-displacement bikes to join the ride. This group will ride separately from 125cc+ class scooters, and will be led by ride alum Mary Klement.
2. This year's main ride leader will be Darrell Clark, owner of Cumberland County Scooters & Cycles. We will also have prize packages at the end of the ride, provided by CCSC.
3. This year's ride will end at Trackside Station in Rockland, where there is ample, secure scooter parking. We will be providing a few snacks, but the drinking is up to you.
4. We will be ordering patches for this year's ride, and as always, have to ask for donations to help cover the cost of getting this whole thing organized. There's a PayPal link on the website.
5. Finally, though it pains me greatly, I will not be able to join the ride this year. But I have a great excuse: My wife is due to have our second baby girl about a week later. :)

Thanks all, and please let me know if you have any questions! http://www.lobsterroll.me
