I have personally been to San Francisco close to a dozen times. I have to say, this was my most enjoyable trip to the city yet! San Francisco has not always been kind to me, but this time was different.

Experiencing this city through the eyes of my family was pure joy. Between visiting a notorious prison, walking the streets of Chinatown and Haight-Ashbury, to riding in driver-less cars, countless memories were made❤️

Great way to end our California roadtrip!!

Day #4 was spent exploring the central California coast. Just one hour up the Pacific Coast Highway lies one of America’s greatest estates, the Hearst Castle. It is nothing short of spectacular! Take the time. Take the tour(s). The great rooms are still furnished as if William Randolph Hearst still lives there; complete with over 24,000 pieces of art, Persian rugs, choir benches from Italy and ceilings from Spain.
But, the pools are the way to my heart!

Just a few miles from the castle is Elephant Seal Beach. Here, there are dozens of HUGE (and,I think, quite ugly) elephant seals. They were either quite sleepy or quite angry. There was no in between!

Day 3 started with more hikes, tunnel logs, and a drive to a new destination. We left Sequoia when it was 98 degrees at 11:30am, drove west through the Central California valley with temps reaching 116, only to wind up in Pismo Beach where the marine layer was present and sweatshirts were a must!

The cool 63 degrees did not stop my boys, however. They finally got to dip their toes in the Pacific Ocean ❤️

Day 1 of our family vacation started with jet-setting off to California. We gave the boys a choice of visiting another country, or seeing more of the US. This was their choice 😀🚗

With a quick stop in Hollywood for lunch, we hopped in the rental car to let the road trip begin. Next stop? Sequoia National Park!

Day 2 was spent with over 9 hours and 30,000 steps of sightseeing this American treasure. The boys were in awe of “the big trees” and with temperatures topping in the triple digits, cooling off in the river never felt so good!
