We are heading into another peak of cycling activities by the end of this month. Although it is good for business to be fully booked, I still like to help visitors to find their way out on bikes even if I cannot guide them in this perfect season for cycling in the Côte d'Azur.

That is why it is time to remind you of a free small booklet with route descriptions that I created some time ago for those, who would like to venture out on their own from Nice.

It is an e-book/pdf file that you can download for free from Lifesparkz' webpage.

Here you get descriptions of 7 iconic routes in a short-medium distance from Nice. It covers short-medium distance routes from Nice. (30-75 km, max 800m+)

C’est la rentrée!! As you say here in France when the long Summer holiday is over and you must get back to school and work 🚲🌸🌸 After spending some cool and sociable weeks in the country where we happy Danes believe in rainbows and unicorns, yours truly cycling promoter is back in the Côte d’Azurian office 🌴

It did not cool down, but got squatted by food mites 🪳who seemed to think they were my holiday substitues? I fired them on the spot as they turn out to be sh*tty cyclists 🤯

We turn into September soon and this is really an update on Lifesparkz’ availabilities in the time to come 🎉💥🇫🇷🇪🇸🚴🏻‍♀️🚴🏼

SEPTEMBER is already pretty booked as a lot of Danish jolly cycling groups come for various events in the Alpes-Maritimes and Var 🇩🇰

But if you come for a day ride or two before 14.9 we can figure it out 🇫🇷

OCTOBER I have some openings in 🇫🇷 during the first weeks before, I head off to

🇪🇸 by mid-October. If you get and idea of cycling with your group of friends in Catalonia during that time and look for an event, please get in touch as I will be around to create nice cycling in the stunning La Costa Daurada together with local guides and the best sport accomodation around!

NOVEMBER is quite open at the moment although I may get back to the city that is a heaven for cyclists again to cruise the Copenhagen cycling high ways and plan for next years adventures 🤗

As usual, please get in touch if you need my help to organise a day or two with local guides in the Nice area even if I am away. Guides in my network are happy to help 💫

Amir won a 30th place at the Olympic’s Time Trial Men’s race today 👏👏👏 He has a message:
“Help each other. It does not matter if that other person is a refugee or not. Your help can change the whole life of the other person, just like it did for me”

When 24-year-old Amir got the official call from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) informing him that he would be part of the 2024 Refugee Olympic Team, he could hardly believe what he was hearing. Since he fled to Sweden and started cycling, only eight years earlier, he had dreamed of one d...

The Grand Arrivé of Tina’s Tour de France took place this morning in Nice. Together with a Peloton of a sporty family who united in France from their different locations the US, Team Lifesparkz made a pleasant morning minor mountain étape while benefiting from the morning shade.

The Peloton cheered in Champagne of birds’ singing on the small roads a few km from the city center that take you to picturesque village Aspremont, on roads that paved the way in the Real Tour de France in 2020 🇫🇷.

We made a loop and cruised back by a pleasant descent via Tourette-Levens and through a minor section of crazy morning traffic into Nice city center where they are rebuilding the city in a transformation to creating greener spaces in town 🌳.

Every jersey were present and we applauded each other for finishing the final stage of this year’s tour before the Summer heat kicked in for the day 🚵‍♀️🚵🏽 🥵 and perhaps in time for the American peloton to have a nap before they go to cheer for the USA football women at the Olympics tonight 🏵️

Now Tina’s Tour de France and Tour de Femmes 2024 has come to an end. It has been some intense weeks full of good experiences by bike. Meeting new and old cycling friends and taking part in the Biggest professional cycling event in the world 🦁 Congratulations to all riders! You did a fantastic job 👏.

Happy summer out there. I will take a break now, rest the legs a little and my poor Scandinavian skin looks forward to recovering in time out of the ☀️

In yesterday’s 5th étape of Tina’s Tour de France de Femmes, the breakaway Teri and Tina started in the morning for a lower mountain stage that would challenge Teri’s legs which normally cycle around Texas in flat lands 🚴🏻‍♀️

Teri had improved her cycling quite a bit since they last were in a peloton together in 2018 in Nice. It had helped that she had retired!!

The breakaway took on the climb up to one of the mediaval villages near the Var river called Gattières, where the soigneurs at the bakery were ready to deliver cool drinks and some bread for the road.

Fueled by a juice and 🥐, the breakaway cruised via the villages St. Jeannet and Sant-Paul de Vence in the hills around Vence back to the seaside where they met the finish line at the Promenade des Anglais 👏🦁🦁

Teri got so happy about cycling in the mountains that she promised to come back to Tour de France de Femmes 2025!

The 4th étape of Tina’s Tour de France took place yesterday, where in fact it was the Grand Départ of Tina’s Tour de Femmes 🚴🏻‍♀️

This étape with Mrs. Beverly was a reunion ride and a Menton-San Remo/ retour ride in one. (Villefranche-San Remo/ retour for Tina). The two Northerner teammembers met in 2018 when Tina guided Beverly on a Col de la Madone tour.

This time, Mrs. Beverly was happy to discover whatever would be good on the day, and Captain Tina lead out an Italian Riviera Cruise with a mid-mountain-challenge at Poggio! The Poggio climb is a big deal in the Milan-San Remo classic. To be honest, it is less of a deal, when you have not raced 300km first 💥

The heat was heavy on the riders and the bodies needed fuel for cooling, so the team was delighted to make a good break and a taste of Original Italian Canelloni and Lasagna - plus a lot of cold drinks 😋🇮🇹

The cycling tunnel in San Remo was also a refreshing section as it felt like cycling in a cooler - ah! 😅

The super nice and gentle cruise and pasta ride was a great way to catch up on life events from the past years and enjoying the scenery and Italian riviera towns. The small compact Italian cars were really a great change from cycling among the huge bling bling show-off cars that take up a lot of space on French Riviera roads!

We have a few more étapes of the current Tour de France this week until team Lifesparkz can escape from the strong Summer sun and cool off in the Nordic.

While the official Tour riders approach Nice, Tina’s Tour de France started today in Nice with Lifesparkz Bike Tours Étape 1.

A mountain stage waited the team of captain and main climber Mr Guy, sprinter Mr. Iain and puncheur and leader yours truly who cycled out North of the city and got to follow a part of the road for the serious guys’ étape on Saturday.

We faced the catery 1 climb from la Grave to Peille where we had a small break. For a moment we thought that a break-away from the real Tour had gone lost as a mixed bunch of local pro-riders quickly raced by.

We continued heading for the main goal of today, the Col de la Madone. It turned out to be a super popular climb today as we met 3 different bike tour companies groups and their vans on the top, from the US, Spain and Portugal…. Plus random other cycling tourists. I have never seen so many up there at once! We supported the entrepreneurial lady who has a small cafe on the top rather than a support car’s food and I helped the Thomson Bike Tours to make their group photo, so the photographer got to work too!

We decended to Menton and enjoyed the stunning views and were happy to not climb up that way as there is full gas on the ☀️ on that side today.

We had the hottest day yet of the Summer, seing a thermometer of 33c 🥵🥵 so we enjoyed the breeze at the descend before we reached the humid sea side.

A water and ice-cream stop was needed on our way back through Monaco and the small places back to Nice.

I got the two English men safely back to Nice where they heading for a well deserved 🍺

Now a bit of rest before étape 2 tomorrow.
À demain 🇫🇷

This brilliant flyer showing tourists in Copenhagen some of the basic rules of cycling in Denmark is being dispersed at hotels in an attempt to make cycling safer in the busy Copenhagen cycling streets.... If you are heading for Copenhagen and want to try a true Copenhagen'er cycling experience, take a look at this first, please!! :) (Saying this as I am soon going to Copenhagen and like to cycle there without crazy cycling tourists around... haha)

NB. This would be very useful in any city that tries to promote cycling, to citizens and tourists alike. There are too many people who ride a bike without thinking about their role in a safe traffic flow.

Cycling is on the rise in African countries!
🌍

I took this group from Nigeria 🇳🇬 out for a spin last week as a warm up for their participation in L’Etape du Tour de Tour de France which took place this Saturday 🚵🏼‍♂️🚵‍♀️

With riders such as Biniam Girmay getting opportunities to lead the way for others while local cycling communities develop, I am sure that cycling will keep growing and unlock a lot of talent to the sport.

Who is coming cycling with me in Spain?
In the midst of the big Tour de France weeks and soon to come finish in Nice (we are very excited around here), I am planning the upcoming cycling adventures in Spain - La Costa Daurada close to Barcelona in Catalonia 🇪🇸

As I must soon book local suppliers for this October-, November- perhaps even December- groups in that stunning region, I bring you my latest advertising news and send out a photo version of the latest brochure … but as you can not read that by these photos, you also get a few other photo inspirations 😅

I’d still like to get more people coming and create a group on 13-19. October 2024 where the first class accommodation and facilities at the Mediterranean Sport Village are still free for us - and the local top nudge cycling coaches from 100percent.training ready to guide us. I really just need 4 more people on board to make this first Spanish group happen - so don’t hesitate to help spreading the word 🙏🏻 We will plan the cycling according to the participants’ levels.

Is your calendar not open on those dates? Don’t worry - I am happy to travel over in a different week that suits you October - May. You must be minimum 6 people and stay minimum 4 nights.

Together with my local collaborators we can create first class cycling for very large groups - and of course at multiple levels ☀️ by custom design. We can help with airport transfers, bike rentals, and a combination of local sightseeing if you e.g. want to spend a day in Barcelona.

For more information https://www.lifesparkz.net/spain.html

Give me a shout out soon 😃
Cycling greetings
Tina

The game is on!!! Are you also thrilled to see the Tour de France back in action? Today is the final day in Italy before the race joins us in France 🇫🇷 and in 20 days it will be exciting who will climb this final Col of the Tour 2024 in yellow - and if he will keep it in Nice 🦁

As a Dane I am biased and excited to see Jonas 🇩🇰 back and ready to put up a show with the local boy Pogacar 🥂

The top was in a cloud today - nice and cool - it will be better for the TV shootages though if we get a ☀️ day so you get to see the amazing views that we are spoiled with when training around here 🚴🏻‍♀️💎

When you search for cycling routes near Salou, Tarragona or Cambrils in La Costa Daurada - you will with no doubt see images of this iconic red bridge connecting tree covered mountains.

It is on the road to one of the easier, picturesque, climbs of the area:

Coll de la Teixata 🚵‍♀️

A 12 km climb of only 3% average up to 541m make it a good beginners climb if you are new to cycling in mountains or you can include it as a first step to reaching the stunning “rolling hills” in the Prioriat full of wine fields and secluded villages.

All of these roads are quiet, invite you to cycle through pristine forest, rocky mountains and visit Catalan villages.

We will for sure try it when cycling in La Costa Daurada - if you look for a cycling holiday / training camp this fall/winter - or next spring, I am happy to help you make it happen!

As an individual or a few people I have a good option for you to join during a pre-organised event 13-19 October.

If you are a bigger group, I am happy to help you organise a fully customised solution when it suits your schedule.

All cycling will be created in collaboration with , cycling coaches who live in the local area and know these roads by heart.

A week with beautiful and long rides in Les Alpes-Maritimes has come to an end. A nice comeback of who had just started road bike cycling when I met him 2 years ago. Jay comes to Nice every second year to attend a conference for surgeons who are specialists in shoulders 🩺

Since 2022 he has kept training road bike cycling in Hamilton, Canada and this time around he said to me: Tina, I want to challenge the Col de La Madone and Col de Vence! And so we (almost) did with great company of Scott one day.

The Col de La Madone was closed near to the top when we reached it yesterday due to a veteran car rally (I have lost track of all the events around here) but in stead we tackled the road up to Monaco Golf Club, which has even steeper roads than up to La Madone 😅

So new goals and cols were reached during some cloudy early Summer days from Nice 😊

See you in two years Jay!

What do you get when a cyclist from Delaware, a cyclist from the Netherlands and a cyclist from Denmark meet below a tower built by some Roman slaves in La Turbie and above towers built to house people with💰in Monaco?

You get: Happy World Bicycle Day!!!

As we all learned cycling in flat, wet and windy lands and now meet as strangers who are happy cycling bikes up a mountain under a blue sky with birds chipping around us 🚴🏻‍♀️🚴🏼

Keep pedaling and make more people love cycling 🌍

No matter how many times I cycle the coast of the Estérel, I loose words to describe its beauty.

It is the true highlight to Cannes 🌴 to find yourself below the mighty red rocks created by a volcano at some point and look out to the deep blue sea while cruising the curving road and rolling hills.

Happy clients make a happy guide - and it is difficult not to get happy when you have the chance of cycling one of the most precious routes in the Southern France - the coast of the Estérel from Cannes on an early Summer’s day ☀️

Pleasant temperatures, a breeze (that turned into a strong backwind on our way back 😅💨), little traffic, nice chats during a few coffee and lunch stops and a joyful Italian couple made it all a pretty perfect day 🙏🏻 in a funny soundtrack of French, English, Italian and Danish 🇫🇷🇮🇹🇩🇰🇬🇧

And not bad to finish off with an open invitation for an aperitivo when visiting Rome.

07/05/2024

A day of cycling from Nice to Villefranche-sur-Mer and Cap Ferrat is a popular tour by hybrid- or e-bike for visitors in the Spring months - the weather is a bit unpredictable at this time of the year, so Lifesparkz follows the weather forecasts and plans for plan B days to change to when it seems too murky for the plan A 🌧️ We need the rain as it was way too dry in the past years and we struggled with draught in the Côte d’Azur, so we don’t complain!

I just got a sweet review from a couple of clients who did the tour this Spring:

“My husband and I did a bike tour around Nice and the surrounding towns with Tina. We had a wonderful time and she was an excellent guide. It was fun to see the other towns outside of Nice (Cap Ferrat and Villefranche-sur-Mer). Would highly recommend!” ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Tripadvisor

😊 if you want to try this tour before / or after the heat strikes (mid-June until late September) then get in touch today so we can make it happen! 🚲

All good things come to those who wait!

It seems that 2024 TdF Grand Arrivé in Nice will be THE big cycling tourist event that those of us being long enough around had hoped that 2020 would have been with the Grand Départ in town 🤥

😎 Lifesparkz is pretty booked around the TdF weekend and still trying to mingle new requests around to help giving cycling visitors unique experiences 🚲🚴🏼‍♂️ (You can still join group rides on Friday 19th Col d’Eze or Wednesday 24th Villages in the backcountry of Nice)

With the Olympics football in Nice ⚽️ following the TdF week - we have a few of the absolute biggest sportsevents worldwide in town in July!

Not sure that the Danish Designed Eifeltower replica that was built for the Grand Départ in Copenhagen in 2022 will make it to Nice - it should!!!
It is still standing 300 meters from the road where I grew up in Taastrup, Greater Copenhagen 🇩🇰 I checked last week.

13-19. October 2024 - Cycling event in Cambrils, Spain in .

What do you get for the launch price 689€ per person? You can read the full list on Lifesparkz website/Spain, but here are a few highlights ⤵️

A local guide will guide our 4 days of cycling, who knows all the small roads and easily can adjust the routes for the day and the group. We also have a service car that can help us throughout the rides.

We get through remote small roads up through forest roads in super condition, we will climb local cols and ride through rolling wine “hills” in the Prioriat district. Stunning views and small villages are also included!

Lifesparkz works with guides who are certified for guiding in Catalonia - in that way we support the local cycling community while getting the best cycling experience ourselves! Tina joins as your cycling tour leader :)

I expect routes of 70-120km/700-1700 m+ per day, which can be adjusted. So the event is for experienced road bike cyclists but will be adjusted depending on the participants = YOU? 😊

We have one rest day to enjoy recharge and enjoy the facilities at the Mediterranean Sport Village, the stunning beach or the nearby towns Salou and Cambrils.

Book your spot before 15 June 2024 by direct message or e-mail [email protected].

We are also happy to create a custom designed event for your group (min 6 people and 4 nights). 100 km South of Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain.

Where are you heading this Easter? 🌸
It is a pretty windy and wet Spring at the Côte d’Azur this year so we get to practise our “navigation in gust winds” skills and holding on to the steering 🌬️ to avoid blowing away.. it is a benefit to have some weight on the bike now as the tiny spaghetti people are too light 😅

On the sunny side, the sea is beautiful with its wild waves 🌊 and temperatures are mild and pleasant 🌸

So nice for running now!

Maybe you spend some Easter days planning your next cycling trip?

Lifesparkz has availabilities during early-mid May and June. You can join a few road bike group rides around the weekend of the Nice Tour de France finish in July. Or perhaps you are curious to discover my new adventures in La Costa Daurada, Spain, where I plan to set up road bike events for groups from October on 🚴🏻‍♀️🚴🏼‍♂️.

If you look for a guide in April, August and September, I am happy to refer to other guides as I will personally be booked or travelling during most of these months.

25/03/2024

A recent visit to Turin, the first Italian capital, has helped me to put the dots together as of why it makes a lot of sense that the Tour this year starts in Northern Italy when it finishes in Nice. Did you know that the borders between Italy and France have only had their present geography for less than 2 centuries?

In fact both cities of Turin and Nice were for centuries parts of the overall States of the Duke of Savoy together with the part of France, which is present day Haute Savoie. This is why you now meet quite a few cultural similarities in those regions.

In Villefranche-sur-Mer the local dialect is still a mix of Italian and French which sometimes makes it difficult for a newly French speaker to understand the local elders!

Turin is a beautiful city with a rich architecture, amazing food and very easy going locals. A vibrant town with a retro feel from the remains of the Romans (it was founded during the Roman empires) to the functioning phone boots, trams from the 1940s and a Vespa shop or two in town. Vespa comes from Turin just like FIAT.

It is a very cycling friendly city too with many bikelanes and beautiful old school bikes 🇮🇹🚲

Neighbour to the Alps, the best wine areas in the World such as Asti and Barolo, and the mother town of Nutella from the Ferrero Rocher factory in nearby Alba.

The region is excellent for cycling adventures as you will see on the 3rd stage of the Tour through Piemonte with pretty rolling hills!

Lifesparkz does not offer cycling further than San Remo from Nice at the moment, but I highly recommend to contact my friends from who can organise a mainly self-guided cycling holiday in Piemonte. Landmade can also organise any local food, wine, truffel, trek, cultural, you name it experience that you can wish for.

You can get easily between Nice and Turin by bus (direct bus) or by train, which is a bit longer journey but a great way to see the Italian coast and countryside.
