We’re incredibly happy to share Conscious Traveler Podcast's latest episode which features Ride 4 a Woman. Located in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Ride 4 a Woman empowers women in the local community with job training and microloans so they can support themselves and their families. If you are planning to visit Bwindi for gorilla trekking, be sure to stop by to meet the organization’s founder Eve Habasa and partake in a basket weaving, cooking or sewing lesson. https://bit.ly/3qAHXAS

Happy ! There are so many women who have affected positive change in Uganda and have proven an inspiration for many, from founders of community and conservation nonprofits to women who are paving the way among their peers in jobs that have traditionally been held by men. Here’s to the female pilots, gorilla trekking guides, porters, trackers, guards, and so many more.

Also known as “knuckle-walkers,” chimpanzees’ arms are longer than their legs which is why they are often seen on all fours. Try imitating them and see how far you can go (not far, we bet). In Uganda, you can spot chimpanzees in the wild in several national parks, as well as at Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary - a short boat ride from Entebbe. 📷: Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary

An intimate Nile River safari provides the opportunity to hear the sounds of the savannah in an entirely new way while getting up close and personal with elephants, crocodiles, and plenty other Ugandan wildlife. Pair a game drive with a river safari for the ultimate experience in Murchison Falls National Park.

Before summitting the snowy “Mountains of the Moon,” your adventure begins in a verdant green landscape like this picture perfect scene in Kiharo Camp on the Kilembe Trail.

Why Visit Uganda

Known as the “Pearl of Africa,” Uganda is located in East Africa and offers some of the continent’s most diverse wildlife viewing, dramatic landscapes, and immersive cultural experiences. Uganda is home to more than half the world’s population of endangered mountain gorillas, and trekking to observe these gentle giants in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is one of the world’s top “bucket list” travel activities. Safari opportunities abound in savanna, forest, and wetland settings throughout 10 national parks, where visitors can come face to face with “The Big Five” – lion, leopard, rhino, elephant, and buffalo – as well as giraffe, zebra, chimpanzee, hippopotamus, crocodile, and more than half of all bird species found in Africa. Among Uganda’s extraordinary natural attractions are the snow-capped Rwenzori Mountains; expansive Lake Victoria, which forms the source of the Nile River; and Murchison Falls National Park. Air service to Uganda’s Entebbe International Airport is available on carriers including Delta Air Lines/KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Qatar Airways, Emirates Airlines, Turkish Airlines, Etihad Airways, South African Airways, EgyptAir and Ethiopian Airlines.
