Tomorrow, Sunday 29 September at 11 am
inside Milan’s Duomo, one of the most dramatic liturgical events will take place - the
“Beacon ritual for St. Tecla’s Feast”
But what is it?
Every year, on this occasion, a cotton-wool-made globe is hung at the entrance of the
presbytery. The celebrant lights it up.
This tradition is derived from an ancient liturgical act dating back to the 7th century when the “pharus” would be lit up during the most important celebrations.

Time appears to have stood still in San Vigilio, an idyllic setting on the shores of Lake Garda. Since the 14th century, San Vigilio has been a source of inspiration for artists, philosophers, and writers, including acclaimed academic, Agostino Brenzone, who arrived in 1538 and fell instantly in love. Brenzone had a passion for Roman antiquities and grand ambitions for San Vigilio, including a villa by the Venetian architect, Michele Sanmicheli.

Casa Campanini (aka Palazzo Castiglioni) is one of the most beautiful examples of Milanese Art Nouveau. Inspired by the art of Alphonse Mucha, it was built between 1904 and 1906 by the architect Alfredo Campanini as his personal residence.

Roman aqueduct in Segovia, Spain.
Initially built in late 1st century under the emperor Vespasian and extended/enlarged under Trajan, it is among the best preserved.
Almost thirty meters high with two orders of arches (for a maximum of 167) in the main part, fifteen kilometers long to transport water from the Sierra (the nearby mountain range) to the city of Segovia.

Did you know?
This image is if the original Michelin Man from 1894.⁣ The Michelin Man is white because rubber tires are naturally white. It was not until 1912, that carbon chemicals were mixed into the white tires, which turned them black. The change was structural, not aesthetic. By adding carbon, tires became more durable.⁣
Michelin also began reviewing restaurants so that more people would travel further distances in their cars to eat at these restaurants. This in turn would wear down their tires faster, and force them to buy more.⁣
The star system that Michelin uses goes up to three and is broken down by whether or not it's worth driving to the restaurant.

Rubens in Mantova and Rome!!! Who wants to go with us?
From October 7th, 2023 to February 18th, 2024 Fondazione Palazzo Te, Palazzo Ducale of Mantua and Galleria Borghese of Rome join forces in an ambitious project that pays tribute to Rubens, the painter who drew inspiration from classical culture, leaving a profound and indelible mark on Italian and European courts. Rubens! The Birth of a European Art is in fact the initiative that brings together the three exhibitions organised by the above mentioned institutions to celebrate the master of Flemish origin whose work became the absolute protagonist and archetype of Baroque: three exhibitions that are part of a broader cultural operation dedicated to the relationship between the Italian culture and Europe, seen through the eyes of Rubens.
