Here’s another update from Mark McGowan:
“I just spoke with Lindra Lomeli who is at her houseboat at Cedar Stock Marina.

Dave is no longer working there. There is a young couple from Oak Bottom at Whiskeytown that are around to keep an eye on things until a new person arrives on Wednesday. I am told her name is Sierra.

Lindra says it is quiet at the dock. There are various fire and sheriff personnel around and staying at the dock to keep an eye on the fire from the water. Yesterday the fire was visible form the dock burning down towards the Papoose Arm of the lake and there were blue skies above the marina. Then the winds will change and the smoke will come back. She says she can't see any active burning this morning. It is just very hazy.

There are no services open at the dock and most of the power is out. Lindra says they are working to get power back on so they can pump gas for the fire boats that are patrolling the lake.

I will follow up as I learn more about what is happening both with the fire and the dock management.”

Here’s another update from Mark McGowan: “I just talked to Dave Gustafson who is the Dock Manager at Cedar Stock.

Suntex (The new ownership) has advised them to shut everything down and let all the employees go home. They will re-access on Friday. The last rental houseboat is back at the dock and packing to go home. By the afternoon today there will be no dock services and probably no one in the office answering phones. They have had intermittent power outages since the fire began and will likely lose or shut down all power. Suntex is being very careful now after losing the Oak Bottom Marina at Whiskeytown.

The fire crossed over East Side Road in one area last night which is on the ridge and boundary between Shasta and Trinity Counties (nearest to the Papoose Arm). Dave says they are hitting this area hard with air assets today to try to hold it at the road. He is still pretty confident that it will not reach the marina but of course that can change.

Dave will remain on site (by himself) to look after the dock and property and will call in other employees if needed. He asked me to share his cell phone number in case there are any emergencies.

(530) 739-8681 Dave Gustafson

He will continue to use me as a contact to get information out to our membership and we will pass it on.

He is interested in getting the web cam back up but will not have any time to even think about it until the fire situation is over.

Update from Trinity Alps Marina:

Just talked to Marilyn at Trinity Alps Marina. They were evacuated yesterday so they are completely shut down and not able to drive back to the Marina. She said they have a boat with them and that they have been launching at Minersville and going across the lake to check on the marina.”

30/07/2018

Here’s a Trinity Lake update from Association VP Mark McGowan:
“As I have been following the Carr fire and noticed that yesterday the issued evacuation orders for Lewiston up to the Trinity Dam, I have been considering driving up to get my ski boat out of there but after talking to Dave, I am on hold for that.
I talked to Dave (dock manager) this morning to see what the situation was up there. He said: It was smokey. They have cancelled all day boat rentals but are still sending out houseboats.
The fire was expected to burn over the top of a ridge east of the lake (near Papoose) last night but it did not even reach the top. Humidity was higher and winds lighter which has helped.
Officials were considering evacuations of Weaverville but with these developments have held off doing so.
The Marina still has evacuation routes of Hwy 3 to the north or Hwy 3 to the south and then west on 299 or south to 36.
Overall he was not too concerned that the fire will reach the lake or make it as far as the Marina. But only time will tell.”

The Trinity Lake Houseboat Owners Association has set up a Helena-Fork Fire Relief Fund

***************************************************

From Jeff Pauli:

I received a call from Rex Bohn (Humboldt County Supervisor) yesterday. He knew I could reach a lot of weekenders. 45 of the 72 houses burned housed school aged children. Obviously they lost everything. He asked that we who love Trinity County and consider ourselves summertime residents donate to a specific fund. This fund will be directed to help the kids who need clothes, sports equipment and a few things to get back on their feet.

Senator Mike Maguire will be having a press conference to address the specific needs. Rex was hoping he could help raise $5000-10000. On the docks there are lots of business owners and folks who can afford to help. I was hoping you could use your email list to reach out.

You may donate to the fund through PayPal on the front page of our website:

Or by sending a check made out to:

Cedar Stock Marina Update from Forever Resort: There is no more than 3" on the boats. I know there is supposed to be more snow coming in, but it sounds like its melting off during the day after snowing all night. The storm was not as big as they initially had said.

Have a good one,

UPCOMING STORM

Update from Katie Linton @ Forever Resorts & Marina:

As I am sure you are aware, there is a pretty nasty storm coming our way this week. I would like to let you know that we will do everything we can to keep all houseboats safe and floating. I do think that Private Houseboat owners might want to start planning to come up if they are able to. Most of my staff will probably be snowed in so we will have minimal help here. I will be down there with Jim and 2 other employees that live on property trying to keep everything floating. This storm says it is calling for about 3 or more feet of snow.

The power is more than likely going to go out and so will the phones and internet. My cell phone gets very poor service when we have rain or snow but I will be available on it for questions or concerns.

Call me if you have any questions.

Have a great day,
Katie

Update from Katie Linton @ Forever Resorts (Cedar Stock) 8:01pm:

Power has been out all day. I have been checking on boats. 4 inches of snow on the boats and it's melting. We got about 1 and a half feet of snow but most should melt tonight. Its almost 40 degrees at the marina.Every boat down there is in good shape!

Marina Update (Cedar Stock):
E-mail from Katie Linton w/ Forever Resorts:

As of this morning we have about 8 inches of snow at the lodge. I checked on all the boats last night around 8pm and there was 3 inches on the boats at the marina. The biggest issue a couple people have bilge pumps not working, and we are keeping them pumped out. Our internet is down and phones seem to be off and on because of power outages. This storm wasn't bad. It didn't produce a lot of snow or else I would have called people. We should be getting another storm this weekend. I think that's when I'll call everyone so they can check on their boat. We will wait and see if that changes, as the weather can change at anytime.

Update from Trinity Lake Resorts & Marina:

The weather is certainly getting a lot cooler now....so we are starting our marina winterization.

Effective immediately, we will be shutting down the water the pump out system. Starting October 24th, we are shutting all teh power off on the marina in order to make repairs to "E" and "D" docks. The power will remain off for 1 month as we make there repairs. We strongly suggest taht if anybody does have any food or remaining perishable items in their refrigerators, to remove it before the 24th.

If there are any questions, please contact Katy Linton at (530) 286-2225.

The Trinity Lake Forever Resorts crew were hard at work over the weekend and were able to move the docks back out and away from land and restored the access ramp after last Friday's windstorm. The boat launch/ramp at Cedar Stock is closed for the season.

WARNING!!!!! At about 4:30pm this afternoon an unexpected wind storm came through and the docks have disconnected from land. You will have to shuttle out to houseboats (shuttle boats available on each side). The first three docks on the store side are landlocked with no access to main of the lake. Marina staff estimated about a week to get everything fixed. Please pass the word along to fellow houseboaters who were planning to come up this weekend. Forever Resorts and Marina is supposed to keep us updated as they work diligently to get everything fixed. They had a full crew working tonight when we arrived at 8:00pm.

Highway 3 Detour Information - Now Open

Using detours around the landslide that took out a large section of Highway 3 north of Trinity Dam Boulevard, Trinity Center residents are managing to get supplies and emergency services.

15/03/2016

Highway 3 is closed 10 miles north of Weaverville after part of the road collapsed after recent storms.

15/01/2016

Just spoke with Cedar Stock Marina and there is 5" of snow on the ground. My rule of thumb is that you have to start being concerned (shovel time) at about 12". If anyone goes to the lake over the long weekend, please post pictures or any updates. Thank you.

22/12/2015

SNOW UPDATE.... We contacted Trinity Lake Resorts and Marina for status on the amount of snow on the houseboats with the recent storms. We were told that a dock guy checked today and there was about 4 inches of snow which was melting fast. Phones and power are currently down. Will keep everyone updated as we receive updates through this winter season.

Happy Holidays Everyone!!

2,179.14 Ft. That is the low for the year. Going the other direction! Lets hope for 2,370!
