Villa or on-site?
As an agent, I am asked this with almost every enquiry. Let me run through some of my personal pros and cons for each:
VILLA ๐
Pros
โ
Lots more space - perfect for larger groups
โ
Can be more by budget friendly
โ
Kitchen areas gives you the option to cook if preferred
โ
Own pool (double check when booking)
Cons
โIncrease in travel time to Parks
โYouโre not fully
Immersed in the โDisney Bubbleโ
โ Car hire is a must ๐ฐ
ON-SITE HOTELS ๐จ
Pros
โ
Disney transportation system, meaning no need for a car unless you want to venture off site
โ
Disney dining plans, which can help with budgeting, especially with FREE dining coming back 18th April
โ
Early theme park entry (and selected late opening for deluxe hotel guests)
Cons
โ Can work out more expensive than a villa๐ฐ
โ Whole family in a relatively small space, which can get trickier as your children get older.
Something to note that, while staying on-site, if you do have a car, currently parking is free at resorts and at the parks.
In addition to the above , there are also plenty of recommended off-site hotels that share a mix of the pros and cons mentioned above. You can get a bit more space suited to your budget, which works very well. You can also have a kitchen with some โapartment-typeโ hotels. Some even offer free shuttles to Disney Parks, but you would probably still need your own transport/uber too, as they arenโt as frequent as Disney Transport.
As you can see, there is no right or wrong answer. It largely depends on what you and your family are looking for - and this is where I come in, to advise you.
Personally, we LOVE a split stay - one week on-site, followed by one week in a villa makes Disney much more affordable for my family. Itโs the best of both worlds, and I can recommend both my favourite on-site hotels, and villa resorts.
