2021 FIAT/IFTA EXCELLENCE IN UNLOCKING THE VALUE AND POTENTIAL OF ARCHIVES AWARD
Due to the amount of ambitious projects that we have received in the “Excellence in Archival Use and Valorisation” category, we have decided to reorganize this award into two new categories so our Jury can award more projects that deserve to be recognized. FIAT/IFTA is pleased to introduce our two new awards: “Excellence in Unlocking the Value and Potential of Archives” and “Excellence in Archive Production”.
The “Excellence in Unlocking the Value and Potential of Archives” award focuses on projects that have taken advantage of some or all aspects of archive collections in a digital environment (value assessment, storytelling, copyright and Intellectual Property issues, technology, ethics, user experiences, etc.) in order to increase awareness and grow the value and use of audiovisual archives worldwide.
Meet our “Excellence in Archival Use and Valorisation” 2020 winner:
“Madelen” by Antoine Bayet, Xavier Lemarchand, Pauline Baduel and Elodie Leleu of INA in France. Our Jury report mentioned that “the project has been created as a result of significant collaboration between INA departments, requiring expertise from collections management, technology, communications, research, finance, administrative, legal and rights teams. It proves the value that archives can add to the viewing experience by unlocking archive content for entertainment purposes. Its ambition, scale and audience reach potential are impressive.”
With great pleasure we announce that the call for the 2021 FIAT/IFTA Archive Achievement Awards is now open – entries are welcomed until 30 June 2021.
