Start leaving it in the other room or at home if you are just going for a quick errand.

Try simply glancing at Google Maps and then using your own memory to get to your destination

Put your cell phone DOWN instead of picking it UP to take a picture or video. Just enjoy the moment

Turn off your phone altogether and enjoy the feeling of NOT being on call to answer texts immediately

Oh, the wonderful human ability to adapt. If you are feeling like an empty brained robot right now, hang in there, neural reconnection is happening, the fog is lifting. It is just going to take longer than most of us would choose to wait if we had the choice.

Remember this about human adaptability:
If you lose a limb, you adapt to being without one.
If you lose a favorite toy, you find another favorite toy
If you lose your comfortable routine, you find a new one
If you lose your sense of humor, however, that's a tough one to replace.
Try to laugh a little more while you are waiting

Our memories can be a blessing or a curse, and you are in charge of keeping them alive and well.
95% of the time, it's your choice.
If you want to keep remembering something, say it out loud often to yourself and/or others. Whether it is short term for your tasks of the day, or

If you want to forget something, QUIT TALKING ABOUT IT!!! It will fade.
Maybe what you 'thought' you had before wasn't really that great. Maybe it was. Stay open to both possibilities.

Grieve it if you need to.
Shout it to the mountain tops, write it on a piece of paper and ceremoniously burn it.
That was yesterday.
Quit floating backwards.
Then look around you and observe what is in the present moment.
Float Sideways.
Observe what may come out of the 'fog'.
Contrary to popular horror movies, not everything that comes out of the fog is going to kill you 🙂

Acknowledge out loud the newness that is arriving and say goodbye to the old. If it isn't clear, (along with your brain), that's ok, it's still formulating. It will present itself when it's ready.

Proceed ahead with whatever helps you take that next step forward. New or not, uncomfortable or not.

Because this pandemic will end. It's already starting.

We won't be 'returning to normal'. We will never return to normal. Because 'normal' changes, and most often it is for the better. (Bet not as many people will be spitting all over birthday cakes anymore when they blow out the candles!)

But our energy WILL RETURN, along with our brains and bodies.

Never before has the entire planet……been in tune with the same thing at the same time?

To each of us, this is historic. To some of us this is even divine. And yet, all of us, regardless of race, s*x, or religious belief, we are united right now in this singular human achievement.

WISDOM FROM AN 11 YEAR OLD BOY

Float Sideways was thoughtfully added to the River of Life Theory by an insightful 11 year old boy, now an insightful and amazing 26 year old man (shown below) while he was contemplating life, floating the Ottertail River in Minnesota one hot summer day.

“If you float facing forwards,” he said, “you are always focusing on the future. If you float facing backwards you are always focusing on the past.”
“So Float Sideways so you can be more present.”
