Hagerstown Regional Airport Increases the Summer Flight Schedule with Allegiant ✈️ ☀️

Hagerstown Regional Airport (HGR) is thrilled to announce additions to its summer flight schedule to Orlando-Sanford and St. Pete-Clearwater now three days a week as well as expanded service through November to Myrtle Beach and service in October and November to St. Pete-Clearwater. These enhancements mark a significant expansion, with a 20% increase in available flights compared to the previous year of 2023.

In addition, during 2023, HGR experienced a commendable 6% growth rate compared to 2022, setting the stage for even more growth in the upcoming summer of 2024.

🔹 Flights to Myrtle Beach International Airport (MYR) from HGR will resume on Friday, May 24, 2024. Beginning the week of June 6, 2024 flights to Myrtle Beach will increase to four per week and run through the end of August. While normally these flights end around Labor Day, in 2024 flights to Myrtle Beach will remain available at two flights per week between September and November 2024.

🔹 Flights to St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport (PIE) from HGR currently run through August 13, 2024. Between June 23, 2024, and August 13, 2024, the two weekly flights are increased to three weekly flights! Flights will resume again on October 3, 2024, at two per week.

🔹 Flights to Orlando Sanford International Airport (SFB) from HGR continue to be offered year-round. Between June 17, 2024 – August 12, 2024, the two weekly flights are increased to three weekly flights!

This new schedule represents a new air service peak for HGR, with summer flights reaching ten per week.

Let’s talk DISNEY AFTER HOURS!

This was money well spent in the first hour.

We were let into the event at 7:00 pm. Yes, there were still guests in the park. I took this time to get some shopping done and the silhouette of my dog! We also got a good spot for Happily Ever After. Pro tip: use this time to get some not-so-popular rides done!

Then, we headed to Tony’s Town Square for dinner. This is a Lady & the Tramp themed Italian restaurant. The viral garlic bread was phenomenal. Our main entrees were about average.

Even though the park doesn’t close until 10:00, most of the crowd fizzles out right after the fireworks. We then headed to some rides in Frontierland. Most were a walk on with the most rides being a 10-15 minute wait.

There are several snack stations around handing out free popcorn, Mickey bars, sodas, water, and ice cream. We took our backpack to fill up on some hotel drinks 😂

Our second fireworks show started at 11:00. Enchantment is my FAVORITE and seeing this show with no crowd and everyone sitting (!) paid for the tickets in itself. I’ll post videos below.

We finished the night riding rides in Fantasyland and Tomorrowland. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train was a 30 minute wait and TRON was a walk on standby queue. Also worth the ticket in itself since both are either over an hour wait or virtual queue during the day.

Pros: get all the rides done with virtually no wait, unlimited snacks, 2 fireworks shows, Magic Kingdom is a literal ghost town and it’s not hot!

Cons: little to no characters and no parades or daytime entertainment

We had a great time as adults and I’m sure teenagers would love it too! If you’re prioritizing characters and entertainment I would not recommend.

Day 4? - EPCOT Festival of the Arts!

This was our first festival event that we actually participated in and it didn’t disappoint! We stopped at Creations Shop and purchased a paint palette. Around World Showcase (inside the pavilions) Figment is hiding in famous pieces of art. You match the corresponding art stickers to the countries on the palette and get a porcelain character of your choice at the end to paint!

We tried several snack items, but my favorite what the steak sandwich. We also got our usual Epcot favorites like the Viking coffee in Norway, egg rolls in China, and a Pooh margarita (mango and strawberry) in Mexico!

There are several huge pieces of art that you can “step” into and get your picture! It always amazes me how they do this! So fun! You can also participate in the paint by numbers wall mural. Artists also do chalk art that is so incredible detailed. They redo it every time it rains throughout the festival.

Hidden throughout the pavilions there is chalk art of different characters! I was on the hunt to find the octopus at Harryhausen’s in Monsters Inc.! He was in the Japan pavilion between the shops.

Of course, we had to ride Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and finally got September! You can see my excitement. 😂

We had an incredible dinner at Shiki Sai! It’s the new sushi restaurant within the Japan pavilion. It is probably some of the best sushi I have ever had. It had great views of World Showcase lagoon. Pro tip: book here for fireworks and request a window seat!

We also LOVED Moana: Journey of Water at night! Such a great place to walk through and relax! I posted a video when we walked through the first time. Epcot is so amazing at night now that the walls have opened up. We watched several shows on Spaceship Earth and there is a ton of seating in the “parks” surrounding it as well as places to charge your phone.

I could go on for days and days about everything that Epcot has to offer for both kids and adults, but you’ll just have to see for yourself 😜

Day 3 - Resort Day!

We started our day by heading to Ale & Compass for breakfast at Yacht Club Resort! This hotel is located on the Boardwalk and is gorgeous! Not to mention breakfast here is a total bang for your buck and is incredibly slept on. You get a main entree as well as the buffet for one price. That is unheard of at Disney. Our server was amazing. I had the dark chocolate waffles!

We then walked around the Boardwalk. The Boardwalk has several hotels and restaurants with some of my favorites being Jelly Rolls (piano bar) and Boardwalk Joe’s Margaritas. Abracadabar is also popular. Hotels in this region have boat transportation as well as being within walking distance to both Epcot and Hollywood Studios.

We went back to the hotel and went straight to the pool. Siestas Cantina has amazing drinks and pool food. Their drink specials change daily. Today I had a mango lemonade with rum. We snacked on walking tacos and jalapeno Mac and cheese bites (which were amazing for pool food!) While we were there, they had some pool games going on for the kiddos as well as a “DJ”. They also were doing Mickey tie dye with the kids for an additional fee.

We ended the day at Villa Del Lago (Three Bridges Bar & Grill)… stay tuned for that review!

JIKO - Animal Kingdom Lodge
Rating - ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ /5

JIKO is an African style signature dining restaurant located in Animal Kingdom Lodge. Unless you are staying at the resort, you have to either take a bus from Disney Springs or another park. We took a bus from Springs, and then Lyfted back.

If using the Disney Dining Plan, this will be TWO credits per person, since it is signature dining. If you’re a wine person, you can sample over 150 wines!

I had the filet and Mac and cheese! Both were standard in my opinion and just looked pretty on the plate.

Patty had the venison! It was absolutely delicious. The sides were different and we didn’t care for those.

Overall, we thought it was a good meal but not a “must do” while at Disney. It is great for a date night but we prefer places at Disney Springs instead.
