Boljun is an ancient town in the northeast of Istria, in the Lupoglav Municipality. It was built around the well-preserved medieval castle. The town has a wide view of the Boljunčica Valley and the Učka mountain range. From the 15th to the end of the 17th century this not a town, not a village place reached the peak of its development.

On wavy picturesque hills of the Istrian landscape, in the lull of the northern part, we can find Karojba. The turbulent past of it's area is testimony to the interesting role of the border area: from municipality records of the Istrian Demarcation, across the borders of the Venetian and Austrian parts even onto Istrian soil which is otherwise divided into red, grey and white land, each find their border here where fields and valleys of red and hills of grey Istria meet.

Kad hladni zimski dani zamirišu na kuhani kiseli kupus, sušeno meso i domaće začine, znate da je u Središnjoj Istri stiglo vrijeme za manifestaciju "Draga nam je zima dok kapuza ima".

Ova manifestacija već četvrtu godinu zaredom slavi kiseli kupus 🥬 i suhomesnate proizvode 🥓 - dvije ključne namirnice u istarskoj kuhinji. Od klasičnih recepata do modernijih interpretacija, očekuju vas jedinstveni okusi koji oživljavaju bogatu kulinarsku baštinu Istre. 🍲

Karojba welcomes rally enthusiasts from December 14 to 15 for the Quadruvium Rally. With 46.97 km of challenging gravel roads, the event offers a mix of day and night races as part of the Croatian Gravel Championship. 🛞

On Saturday, catch the action from the shakedown session at noon to the first speed tests at 4:57 PM, culminating in a night race under the stars. Sunday continues with early morning stages, wrapping up with the awards ceremony in the evening. Witness motorsport like never before in the heart of Central Istria! 🚘 💚

On this St. Nicholas Day, Pazin celebrates its patron with pride in its Parochial Church of St. Nicholas. Founded in 1266 and renowned for its late Gothic frescoes from the 15th century, this church embodies centuries of Istrian history. With a 45-meter bell tower and a beautiful organ installed in 1780, it offers a glimpse into the past.

St. Nicholas, known for his acts of compassion, is celebrated across Croatia as children eagerly await his “visit.” They polish their boots, hoping to find small presents and sweets for good children the next morning, or a little twig if they misbehaved. It is a cherished tradition every December.
