Myeik Archipelago, Myanmar

Located in southern most part of Myanmar, of the coast between Myeik (Mergui) and Kawthaung (Victoria Point), the Myeik (Mergui) Archipelago is an enormous area features more than 800 pristine islands

The Burmese government kept the area off-limits to foreigners until 1997. Since opened to a handful of tour operators, the 800 islands scattered off the southern coast of Myanmar, in the Andaman Sea, are so seldom visited that many of them are known only as numbers on navigation charts.

Mustang is linked by religion, culture and history to Tibet, but is politically part of Nepal. The ‘Land of Lo’, as it is known to its 7000 inhabitants, occupies a mere 2,000 square kilometres in the upper valley of the Kali Ghandaki River, which flows straight from north to south. Until 1991 no outsiders were allowed to enter Mustang.
