You know you’re having the best day on safari when you spot Seenka in the Lemek Conservancy. It is his mane that catches your attention first. His mane is pure royalty. It is thick, golden, and flowing like a crown, and catches the sunlight making him look like the king he truly is. This morning, our guests at Spirit of Tembo got the chance to meet this majestic lion up close. It was the kind of sight that leaves you speechless.

Seenka was with his two brothers, Lemurt and Orkiti, and his lady companion, whom he doesn't shy off from showing her off to anyone that cares to see. The bond between them was strong, and every move they made commanded envy.

The moment was made even more special by the golden morning light. It lit up the grass and framed the lions like a masterpiece. Our guests couldn’t stop snapping photos, trying to capture the power and beauty of the scene. Seenka and his pride gave us an unforgettable show that was calm, powerful, and truly wild. A morning like this reminds us why Lemek Conservancy is such a treasure😍

Bush breakfast in Lemek Conservancy is a feast for the senses. Picture this: the golden rays of the morning sun spilling over the savannah, the soft chirping of birds blending with the gushing of the wind, and the aroma of freshly brewed coffee filling the air. Our guests gathered under the shade of an acacia tree, where the live cooking station set the stage for an unforgettable outdoor dining experience.

Our chefs worked their magic in the open, flipping pancakes, grilling sausages, and crafting omelets just the way our guests liked them. The sound of sizzling pans competed with cheerful laughter as everyone enjoyed the warm hospitality of the wild. Plates piled high with fresh fruit, warm pastries, and hot meals were passed around, each bite enhanced by the serenity of the surroundings.

It was more of a connection to the untamed beauty of Lemek Conservancy. Guests marveled at the view, their conversations often pausing to admire the hunt of Kasongo they'd just experienced. Every detail, from the rustic setup to the flavors on the plate, made this experience one to treasure. If a morning could ever feel this perfect, it’s here at Spirit of Tembo😊😊.

A lion’s roar is the wild coming to life. It starts low, like thunder far away, and gets louder until it shakes the ground. Hearing a lion roar at sunset is something you never forget. The golden light of the sun lights up its mane as the sound fills the air, reaching far and wide.

For anyone lucky enough to hear it at Tembo by Jackson, it’s an experience to remember. It connects you to the heart of the savannah and stays with you long after the roar fades into the quiet night😀

Where are my sunset lovers at?
The sunset is like an old friend who shows up every evening, painting the sky and wrapping the world in peace. It starts shy, with a soft glow, before bursting into fiery oranges and pinks, as if it’s saying, “Look at me, I’m here for you.” It doesn’t ask for anything; it simply gives, spreading beauty across the horizon for anyone willing to stop and see.
There’s something comforting about watching the sun go down. It feels like the world is slowing down with it. The golden light kisses the trees, dances on the water, and casts long shadows on the ground, whispering stories of the day that was. It’s as if the sunset wants you to know that endings can be beautiful too.
The sunset isn’t just a sight. It brings memories of lazy evenings, shared smiles, and dreams for tomorrow. Its colors wrap around you reminding you that no matter how hard the day has been, there’s always a moment of beauty waiting. It’s impossible not to feel connected to something bigger when the sky turns into a living canvas.
So, here’s to the sunset, the silent artist of the savannah skies. It shows up every day, without fail, to remind us that even the end of the day can be a beginning of something new. Let’s love it, admire it, and never take it for granted. After all, who wouldn’t want a friend like that?

Giraffes are the supermodels of the savannah. Their long necks stretch towards the sky, their patterned coats look like nature’s finest artwork, and their graceful walk could make anyone stop and stare. Everything about them is elegant and iconic. Watching them nibble leaves off towering trees is a masterpiece in motion.

But there’s another side of the savannah we rarely talk about, maybe because it’s so common that it goes unnoticed. Gazelles and zebras; always present, yet often overlooked. Their presence adds a special touch to the wild. Their endless herds dot the open plains, moving like waves across the golden grass. Without them, the savannah would lose its rhythm, its harmony, its story. They are the quiet keepers of balance, feeding the mighty predators and scavengers who rely on them.

The role they play in the ecosystem is nothing short of heroic. While they live under constant threat, they ensure life goes on. Lions, cheetahs, and hyenas depend on them for survival, and even the smallest scavengers like jackals and vultures find life through their struggles. They’re the lifeline of the food chain, the bridge that connects the hunters and the hunted, maintaining the cycle that keeps the savannah alive.

And then there’s the motherhood story - raw, powerful, and deeply emotional. A mother zebra or gazelle must always stay on guard, knowing her young ones are the easiest targets. Every day is a battle to protect their little ones, who are born into a world where danger lurks behind every bush. You can feel the mother’s love as she shields her baby, guiding it across the open plains, ready to risk everything to keep it safe.

This part of the savannah may not be as glamorous as giraffes or as thrilling as predators, but it tells a story of resilience and beauty. It’s a reminder of how every life, no matter how small or common, plays a role in the grand design of the wild. It’s a story worth stopping to appreciate, worth celebrating, and worth protecting.

Today’s game drive had us in stitches as we watched young lion cubs of the Lemek pride locked in a playful wrestling match. They rolled, tumbled, and leapt at each other with the kind of energy only siblings have - one minute biting, the next giving a gentle swipe, only to bounce back and try again. It was like watching a sibling showdown with all the energy and none of the harm. And honestly, the only thing missing were pillows! If they’d had those, we might’ve witnessed the first-ever lion pillow fight right here in Lemek Conservancy. In one moment, their tails were even in perfect sync, flicking together as if keeping beat. Their playful roars, paw taps, and the glint in their eyes kept us watching, realizing these little wrestlers were just enjoying the simple joys of cub life.

Let me share a bit of the thrill from today. Standing by the watchtower at Spirit of Tembo in Lemek Conservancy, our watchful daytime askari, Mr. Latinoi Tompoi, spotted lions moving close to camp. In seconds, he had us rushing out with our cameras, and just a two-minute drive from camp, we found ourselves right in the middle of an intense scene. Seven lions - two lionesses and five nearly-grown cubs - were laying low in the tall grass, eyes fixed on a group of unsuspecting warthogs not far off.

If you’ve ever watched warthogs, you know they’re like the “Kasongo yeye” trend - darting away one moment and forgetting their escape plan the next. Our star warthog, Mr. V16 Engine, kept trotting back toward the lions as if he had nothing to worry about. Little did he know, the lions were just waiting for him to get close enough.

Then, in perfect sync, one lion decided to break the silence, scattering the warthogs and sending Mr. V16 sprinting towards a waiting lioness. Within seconds, she sprang forward, effortlessly closing the gap and ending the chase with a swift, powerful catch. She watched her family closely, and called them for the feast to come.

Experiences like this are why Spirit of Tembo is so special. Just minutes from camp, we witness the raw, powerful side of nature up close, all thanks to our sharp-eyed staff and the incredible wildlife that calls this place home.

Today, we watched a tiny cub, barely five weeks old, face a huge challenge - a rock climb! With eyes still a bit hazy and paws that didn’t quite cooperate, it kept slipping and then starting again, fully committed to its ‘mountain.’ We couldn’t help but silently cheer it on.

Nearby, the sun was setting behind a lone acacia tree, painting the sky in warm shades of orange. The acacia stood steady, like a silent guardian watching over the cub’s clumsy efforts. The whole scene felt both wild and calm, playful and timeless.

Together, this young cub’s little journey and the golden sunset painted a picture of life in its purest form: small victories and quiet beauty, all in the savannah under one sky.

Tembo by Jackson, l’Identité Massaï!
