Katie Short Sculpture Katie Short is a Chicago-based artist, working in sculpture. She is a maker but often uses destruction as a means to create.

Katie Short’s sculptures express objects as alchemical materials, as syntheses between native identity and forced context: heat, cold, containment, and exposure. Precise control balanced with passion for the humanity of fluke shows her practice as a curiosity-driven experiment, uncovering natural metaphors that connect materiality with human experience. The realized sculptures and installations em

phasize material phenomena in the face of a historically critical art dialogue that has been largely centered on illusion.
