“Let the digging begin!” Poggemeyer Design Group, Inc. - A Kleinfelder Company was excited to join The Spieker Company, DEWESoft USA employees, and Whitehouse, Ohio representatives for the groundbreaking of DEWESoft USA’s new headquarters earlier this month.

The project will include renovation of the existing office building, plus design of a new two-story office addition with third-floor penthouse and rooftop patio.

“DEWESoft USA is one of the leading providers of data acquisition devices, and one of the fastest growing companies in Northwest Ohio, and we’re looking forward to completing this exciting project with the team,” said PDG/Kleinfelder’s Sonny Hamizadeh, pictured here third from left.

Principal Professional Nathan Stevens, PG, describes how Kleinfelder’s enhanced asset/property management solution Rapid Site Development | ML, powered by Azimuth1’s machine learning technology EnviMetric®, helps provide site developers with increased confidence.

Whether you’re an investor, developer, or owner, the land acquisition and development business abound with challenges that can result in project schedule delays and costly spending due to unforeseen liabilities. Because environmental issues, in particular, can be extremely detrimental to site development, a project’s success depends on how well environmental risk is identified, analyzed, and managed from acquisition through construction.

With advances in technology – like Rapid Site Development | ML – assessing a property’s environmental risk is now more efficient and cost effective than ever.

? HBCUs – or Historically Black Colleges and Universities – are defined as “any historically Black college or university that was established prior to 1964, whose principal mission was, and is, the education of Black Americans, and that is accredited by a nationally recognized accrediting agency or ... making reasonable progress toward accreditation,” according to Higher Education Act of 1965.

HBCUs offer all students, regardless of race, an opportunity to develop their skills and talents and are a source of accomplishment and great pride for the African American community as well as the entire nation.

“I’m a proud alumna of Hampton University, which is part of the Historically Black Colleges and Universities network,” says Kleinfelder Project Controls Specialist Darvadra Huffman. “HBCUs were established before the landmark Civil Rights Act in 1964 with the ongoing mission of educating Black Americans.”

Kleinfelder Environmental Scientist and Project Safety Manager Ashleigh Layton, CSP, from our Hamilton, NJ office, is also a third-generation firefighter who’s been volunteering in this role since 2009.

“I love being able to help people in their worst moments and participate in positive community events,” she said. “Educating the public about fire service is extremely rewarding, and I get to help influence the future firefighters by speaking about firefighting and fire safety to girl scout groups and at schools. Also, being an EMT has helped me address first-aid situations on job sites and has taught me how to remain calm and collected under pressure.”

Ashleigh also noted that her supervisor and Kleinfelder colleagues have been extremely supportive of her volunteer efforts.

“I hope to be a positive representation of Kleinfelder in the community for years to come.”

Thanks for all you do, Ashleigh!

For the last six years, Kleinfelder’s San Diego offices have partnered with a local outreach organization to collect and distribute warm blankets to those in need.

In 2020, a total of 82 blankets were donated, and this year, Kleinfelder employees went above and beyond, surpassing their goal of 100. Due to the overwhelming response from staff, the organization will pickup additional blankets this week.

"It’s a wonderful feeling to be able to share the warmth during these colder months with those less fortunate," Kleinfelder Construction Services Administrative Supervisor Terri London, who organized the event, said. "With COVID-19 still prominent, this year has been a challenge for many, and more so for our homeless population. I’m amazed, thankful, and proud to say that staff donated 130 blankets."

Thank you to everyone who helped make an impact this holiday season!

Wishing You Health, Peace, and Happiness This Holiday Season.
