Rice has long been more than an important staple food in Cambodia and Southeast Asia, with it also being used for making other forms of food and beverages, for livestock feed and in holy ceremonies. The culture of rice can be observed extensively in the Cambodian society.
Khmer people have been growing rice since between two to five thousand years BC. With thousands of years of history, we can still observe the ancient stories and myths about rice that were inscribed on the walls of Angkorian temples across the country.
