Gaston Murdock is now offering free translation services to artists in need.

We all know COVID-19 is hitting the performing arts particularly hard. Venues are closed and artists are out of work. But some arts workers are using this time to revamp their websites or put content online.

The virtual world may not have borders but language barriers can limit your reach. Over four million Canadians don’t speak English and millions more don’t speak French. Bridging the linguistic divide has never been more important. Gaston Murdock is here to help with free translation and editing services for Canadian artists in need.

There are new audiences out there. We want to help you find them. Please visit our website for more information.

Gaston Murdock is a boutique translation firm in Winnipeg, Manitoba. We provide French translation services to businesses and organizations throughout Canada. Contact us today!

A great session this morning on self-revision with Joachim Lépine. Thanks to l' Ordre des traducteurs, terminologues et interprètes agréés du Québec for organizing it. Looking forward to the second half next week! After a month in isolation, it was particularly nice to see all the participants' faces on the screen. :-) One great takeaway: spend the time to produce a good first draft. More effective than rushing through your first pass at a text and expecting to make it brilliant later on. Also? "Doublets" are our friends. Over and out!

Is the work of literature connected to the risks some people undertake to save others? I believe so—because acts of language can themselves be acts of courage, j...

Our English teachers told us to avoid the word “very” because it’s weak and vague. They were right, and many times, we use “very” as a modifier for a word that could easily be replaced with a stronger, more accurate word. This infographic tells you what to use instead.

I very much enjoyed attending Translate in Chantilly, which ran August 2-5 in Chantilly, France. Rubbed shoulders with some of Europe's and North America's premiere translators and attended many stimulating and enriching sessions. All against the backdrop of the famed Chateau de Chantilly.

Also squeezed in a tour of Paris, bien sûr!
