🇳🇴 Hidden towns in the Norwegian Fjords

There are such quaint gems up near the Arctic circle!

My favorite spots:

📪 the northernmost post office in the world!
🐾 dogs at camp for dog sledding

We loved how the cruise around the Norwegian Fjords not only had wildlife & nature, but also these quaint areas as well 🗺️

PONANT LE LYRIAL HIGHLIGHTS 🛥️

• There’s a small passenger capacity - 122 cabins, making the experience more intimate

• Fabulous, attentive crew

• The decor is simple with a light color scheme giving it an understated elegant feel

• There are beautiful open lounges with floor to ceiling windows to view the scenery.

• The cabin was well appointed and had a Nespresso machine, not often seen on cruise cabins.

• The bathrooms were small but had a separate shower and sink area

Anyone who knows me, knows I love champagne! 🍾

While staying at the gorgeous Hotel Bennett in Charleston this past weekend, I was introduced to Camellias, their champagne bar.

To match the pink bar, of course, I had to order a glass of rosé to blend in with the pink decor.

A Buenos Aires photo collage 🌳🍷💃🏼

Buenos Aires is such a beautiful city, full of plazas, lush greenery, an overall great atmosphere, and amazing wine! We spent 4 days exploring the different neighborhoods to get a good overview, but could’ve spent so much more time here.

Here are a few great moments:

1. Buenos Aires from above at the local domestic airport

2. Trying mate (mah-tay) - it’s the most popular drink in Argentina It tastes like a very very strong tea and gives you a descent boost of caffeine.

3. Tango and dinner at El Viajo Almacén

4. Some of the cool greenery and parks in the city

5. The Burger Joint - rated top 29 burger places in the world in 2013 - very good!!

6. Vegan lunch at - our hotel stay

7. Last drink of the trip in San Telmo people watching and soaking up the culture!

⚠️ 2024 Travel Trends You Need to Know About! ⚠️

Send to the person you want to take an adventure with this year!!

Gone are the days of scheduling one-off short trips for the year and in are the days of adventuring, taking bucket list trips, and heading out of the country for longer than you used to (all thanks to more working online!). Here are some of the most popular this year:

🥾 Adventure/Exploration Travel - traveling to far areas has been on the rise and 2024 is no exception with Antarctica and the Arctic being on the top of many people's bucket lists (mine included!)

🧘🏼‍♀️ Wellness Travel - travelers are now more in-tune with wellness cultural connections and want to maintain their routines while travelling, but also want great food to go with it so destinations are stepping up to keep up. Yoga retreats, wellness group trips, and non-alcoholic cocktails are all a part of this trend.

✈️ Private group trips - still trending since Covid are trips with small groups traveling with others they know and not in larger groups for a more authentic experience

🚢 Once-in-a-lifetime trips: people are foregoing the popular destinations and heading to further destinations for unique experiences

📆 Longer trips - people want less jam-packed itineraries and want time to connect with the destination which means planning more time in order to do both

My 2024 Goals - both travel & personal 📝

🥾 Push my comfort zone - I am an adventurous type, but tend to stay with what I know - this is the year to push myself beyond that & try something I would not normally do

👟 Take a run in every city - This is two fold; it helps get my workout in, but there is something about running through a foreign city in the morning in silence when all is quiet to see it in a more natural state before the crowds set in

🧍🏼‍♀️Escort a group - I am not sure to where yet, but I will share once I do so stay tuned!

📲 Get more consistent with social media - I am going to take more time to create and post content to share my travels and inspire you to get out into the world!

📖 More time to read for pleasure - I am not good at carving time out for myself and this year I want to be sure to read simply for pleasure!

📆 Time block - I always have a list of things to do, but I am going to try time blocking for a more efficient way to get things done. So many great books talk about doing this!

✨ Act on impulses/inspiration - You know those urges you get to call someone, or to get up from your desk to go for a walk? I usually ignore them because I am in the middle of something. This year I am going to act on them - there is a reason they are coming to me, so I will pick up the phone and send a text or get up from my desk!

I have been blessed to take some wonderful trips throughout the years, and this year is shaping up to be a great one. I’ll call it the year of the penguins and polar bears (two of my favs!).

I will be visiting Antarctica on the beautiful Seabourn Venture Expedition ship (right around the corner) and the Arctic this year and cannot be more excited as these are two of my top bucket list trips!

Antarctica has been on my list for a while so I am overjoyed it is finally here! I cannot wait to see all the penguins and to kayak in the waters. The arctic plunge is up for debate….

But, before I head there I will be visiting Buenos Aires, Argentina for the very first time and am looking forward to experiencing the culture and the famous night life.

Next up I will be heading back to Amsterdam; I love this city so would go back over and over. I’ll hop on a new luxury river cruise line from there - Riverside Luxury Cruises and cannot wait to experience her as well as all the towns we will visit in the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium. I will then spend some time in Bruges and Brussels - also new destinations. So excited!

I’m off to Costa Rica in May, somewhere I have never been. I cannot wait to zip line through the cloud forest, hike near Arenal, and go horseback riding like I have helped so many of my clients do.

A return to Paris is coming in June and I cannot - I’m a champagne girl after-all! Following Paris I’ll be on an epic trip to the Arctic and the Norwegian fjords in search of polar bears on the Ponant Le Lyrial! This is a luxury yacht that will get us up close to the fjords.

In October I will sail on the brand new Sun Princess as she makes her debut. She will be a great addition to the Princess line-up.

I’ll also be revisiting many US cities:

* Charleston
* Las Vegas
* Dallas
* Minneapolis (honorable mention since my son and his beautiful fiancé will be getting married here)
* Plus returns to the Caribbean and Mexico

I travel to enrich my life, but also to bring you and my clients first hand knowledge of wonderful places. I can’t wait to share these adventures with you so be sure to follow along. And, not to worry, I am always working while on the go so will be planning fabulous trips for my clients while I am experiencing my own!

HOLIDAY TRAVEL DON'TS THAT YOU NEED TO AVOID THIS YEAR🎄✈️

⏱ DON'T arrive to the airport within 2 hours of your flight - plan plenty of time for checking in.

🎁 DON'T pack your gifts in your checked bags - you don't want to risk them not making it!

🛫 DON'T fly out on the last flight of the day, earlier is better - any delay or cancellation means you won't get out.

📆 DON'T play your plans by ear - plan ahead for rental cars, tours, and dining reservations

🥪 DON'T travel without snacks - with crowds, long lines, and possible delays, this one will save you from hanger adding to your travel stress!

My NUMBER ONE tip when traveling during the holiday season ⤵️

PLAN AHEAD AND BOOK EARLY.

The holiday season is one of the busiest times of the year for travel, which means that things fill up quickly! If you wait, your options for flights and accommodations will dwindle.

Planning ahead and booking early will give you the best and widest selection of accommodations. Not only that, but you will be able to compare various travel days and flights to get the best pricing. If you wait options will be limited.

With that said, if you are thinking about traveling during the holidays - it's time to start planning NOW for 2024! This year may still be possible but you won't have as many choices and prices will be higher. Whether you would like to visit NYC for the lights in the city or go on a Christmas Market cruise in Europe, I can help make sure that you get the best options for your holiday travel.

Call me today so we can get started planning your holiday travel!

Spoiler Alert: Traveling in October and November are some of the best months of the year to travel! These months are shoulder season for most destinations, making them less crowded and more affordable!

So where should you book a trip to this Fall season?

🍁Portugal for the leaves changing colors on the trees and grape vines
🌡Egypt, Morocco, and Asia are beautiful spots for great temperatures in the Fall months
☀️Peru for its dry season and perfect hiking weather
🦁South Africa for the beginning of spring when it is still brown which makes it easier to see the animals on a safari, or simply just enjoy the “spring weather" in Cape Town
🇺🇸Upstate New York, New Hampshire and Vermont, Colorado and northern Utah, the Ozarks in Missouri and Arkansas, and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan all for leaf peeping

If any of these are on your Fall travel bucket list, I can make sure you are on a plane going to your dream Fall destination in no time! Call me today to book your trip.

📍 Stanley Baking Company

This spot is such a gem in the sleepy town of Stanley - whether you grab a few pastries before a long hike or sit down with a cup of coffee and a larger meal for brunch.

We discovered this on our last day here but would have come back over and over!

🥐 Definitely get the cinnamon roll!!

Although I love staying in luxury hotels and enjoying the relaxation that brings, I also love every second of adventure travel - hiking, biking, white water rafting, kayaking - you name it.

Being active and getting off the beaten path allows me to immerse myself more deeply into a place and truly experience it. I am able to see a place in a different way than I otherwise would.

If you haven't tried mixing up your type of travel, I challenge you to try! If you need help figuring out what to do or where to go, I can help you every step of the way! Just give me a call or send me a message!

One of my favorite parts about traveling is finding places off-the-beaten path. Although a National Monument and Preserve, Craters of the Moon is not something that had been on my radar very long.

But when I saw pictures before heading to Idaho, I added it to my list. So we drove 3 hours round trip out of the way to visit here for an hour at sunset, and I'm so glad we did!

If you are near Ketchum or Twin Falls, you should definitely add this to your list!

Even if you just have 30 minutes to drive the loop road, this scenery comes about suddenly and doesn't look anything like the other parts of Idaho you'll be seeing - so it's worth the drive!

If you have an hour or more, be sure to check out the Inferno Cones, Splatter Cones, and Devil's Orchard Trail. If you have more time, you can check out the caves and do a few longer hikes on the moon!

A guide to a day in Cyprus:

If you go on a Mediterranean cruise that visits Cyprus, you'll get a pretty good feel for the island in one day. Although you could spend way more time here, here's what I recommend looking for in a tour:

🏔Visit the Kouris Reservoir - the largest artificial lake in Cyprus!
💧Walk to Mesa Potamos Falls near Moniatis village
☕️Have coffee & cake at the oldest hotel in Cyprus - New Helvetia Hotel
🏘Wander the streets of Omodos - a quaint village town. Grab a gass of rosé or a beer from one of the local cafes!
🍷 End your afternoon at Linos winery for a tasting - and don't forget to try the Pistachio liquor!!!

Are you thinking about going on a Mediterranean cruise? Call me or DM me so that I can find you the best one this Fall!

4 things you need to consider when deciding on a hotel 🏨

📍Location - the location of a hotel is critical, and should be the most important thing to consider. I always prefer a centrally located property so that I can walk to most attractions and restaurants. You may save money on a hotel further out, but you will most likely spend it on transportation to get to where you want to go.

🛏️ Size - I like to know the size of the hotel and of the rooms, but especially the rooms (as this can be an issue when outside of the US). I don’t travel light, nor will I ever pretend to so I need space around the bed to move with my suitcases there! I also like to know the size of the bedding and definitely prefer a king over a double or queen.

☕️ Amenities - Know what you want from your hotel! For instance, I like to have an onsite gym and a place to grab coffee and breakfast. This saves me time in the mornings so I can start exploring sooner. Other amenities you want to think about are air conditioning (important in a warm destination), wifi, parking, or a pool.

📝 Reviews - you do need to be careful of these but I read the reviews to get a feel for the property and I always read the best and the worst to weigh things out. You can tell a lot from a review - how friendly the staff is, how long it takes to get to the top attractions, and the type of people who stay there. I like to know what type of people stay at a property so that I don’t end up at a popular college spring break spot or surrounded by families if I’m looking for a quiet spot.

There is a hotel for everyone, it is just good for you to know what is important to you to find the perfect fit!!
