The mud sump in Swildons, after 80 mins of fairly continuous bailing we had lowered the water level by 10 inches, unfortunately we were going to need to lower by at least another 10-15 inches to create an air space big enough for us to get through. This is us having just given up, the round trip will have to wait for another day :-)

SRT is the set of skills needed to explore vertical sections of a cave, we teach people how to develop the skills to move safely up and down ropes to be able to explore deeper underground:-)

I’m not sure it makes learning SRT any easier having some muppet at the head of the pitch trying to coach you to improve your technique;-)

New SRT skills being put to the test underground yesterday. Sitting above a massive drop is a great way to focus the mind :-)
