I would like to take this opportunity to thank the following people on my Facebook who generously donated to the campaign for Annie who sadly passed away yesterday afternoon on 29/05/2019:
Brian Vinson, Chris Goletsos, Susanna Barber,Kat King, Vicki Sweet, Michael Hill, Orry Pilven, and Susie Emery and the three anonymous people. Tim, posted a message on Facebook thanking the wonderful thoughtful friends of mine who donated to Annie's campaign.
I also would like to thank Tim and Annie's friends, Jeanette Rudman, Kym & John Tuddenham,Wayne Taylor and Lucien Tinker for their kind gesture.
We all helped to raise $1,336. Thank you all so much. I will keep the campaign open for another month to help Tim with any future costs such as Annie's funeral or any associated expenses.
I am glad that I got to say my good bye to a beautiful person who was intelligent, wise, motivated, caring and an incredible person who captured every opportunity whether it be work or private life to give herself new challenges. May she now rest in peace and pain free from the awful disease.... cancer. My message to all "Life is not a dress rehearsal, you all have one opportunity therefore make the most of what life has to offer".
Tim Ireland is an amazing husband who was by Annie's side day and night at the hospital. He slept at the hospital, he ate at the hospital and showered at the hospital for three weeks. He did not want to leave Annie by herself even though she slept most of the time. He did not want Annie to be alone when she departs this world. He held her hand to the end.
Tim, may Annie shine over you and help you get through this difficult time.
Once again a big thank you to all for helping my friend. I will never forget your kindness.

Bad News:
Below a photo of one of my happiest days of my life marrying my beautiful wife Annie in Cambodia, just a few years ago.
As all our regular clients know how much work Annie put into our events and not a single one would have been possible without her it will be still - hopefully a very long time - before The Ultimate Golf Challenge will be in the position to think about organizing an event again.
I have to give you the bad news that Annie's kidney cancer has spread and is now terminal. The doctors can just make her as comfortable as possible.
Anyone who would like to speak to us and wish her well can call me under the usual number, please understand that I am not posting our contact details here.

Pictured is a photo of Ben Hogan’s grip taken just after he won the Los Angeles Open in January 1947. His hands and clubs fit together in perfect unison.

The following quotes were taken from the first installment of “Five Lessons: The Modern Fundamentals of Golf” which was originally published in the March 11, 1957 issue of Sports Illustrated on “The Grip”.

Good golf begins with a good grip. The grip is the heartbeat of the action of the golf swing. Logically, it has to be. The player's only contact with the ball is through the clubhead, and his only direct physical contact with the club is through his hands. In a good grip both hands act as ONE UNIT.

When a golfer has completed his left-hand grip, the V formed by the thumb and forefinger should point to his right eye. In the completed grip, the main pressure points are the last three fingers, with the forefinger and the palm pad adding assisting pressure. The three fingers press up, the pad presses down, and the shaft is locked in between.

The grip of the right hand, since it is the hand that does the overlapping, is more complicated. When you have folded the right hand over, the right thumb should ride down the left side of the shaft, slightly. This union of left thumb and right thumb pad strengthens the welding together of the two hands and it serves to add real reinforcement to your grip. When you check your right-hand grip, the V formed by the thumb and forefinger should be pointing right at the bottom of your chin.

What a man, what a golfer. Arnold was not only a great, great golfer, but also a man of enormous heart and generosity. He was also incredibly kind to young players, including me at the start of my career... There will never be another golfer like Arnold Palmer and the game of golf will miss him so much. His legacy, his record, his charitable spirit, will live on forever. RIP 👑 - http://bit.ly/2dwdanB

New Years Day at the Bay Hill Shootout. It was easy to see Mr Palmers health was a concern and that would should cherish every moment we had left with him. What a special contribution he made to golf and the world. I have Mr Palmer to thank for my two beautiful healthy babies, delivered at The Winnie Palmer Hospital, and also for starting my love affair with Orlando at the 2005 . He will be dearly missed.

I just got the news at about 8:45 that Arnold had passed. I was shocked to hear that we lost a great friend—and that golf lost a great friend.

At this point I don’t know what happened, and I suppose it is not important what happened. What is important is that we just lost one of the incredible people in the game of golf and in all of sports. My friend—many people’s friend—just wore out. I know he was in Pittsburgh trying to find out how to make himself better. That’s what Arnold has always tried to do. He has always been a fighter and he never gave up on anything. He didn’t give up even now. Maybe his body did, but I know Arnold’s will and spirit did not.

I wish I had another chance to talk to him, but I am so glad we talked a couple weeks ago on his birthday (Sept. 10), when he sounded great. So Barbara and I are just in shock and incredibly saddened. Our hearts, thoughts, prayers and sympathies go out to Kit, his kids, grand-kids, great grandchildren, and his entire loving family.

He was one of my best friends, closest friends, and he was for a long, long time. I will miss him greatly.

Arnold transcended the game of golf. He was more than a golfer or even great golfer. He was an icon. He was a legend. Arnold was someone who was a pioneer in his sport. He took the game from one level to a higher level, virtually by himself. Along the way, he had millions of adoring fans—Barbara and I among them. We were great competitors, who loved competing against each other, but we were always great friends along the way. Arnold always had my back, and I had his. We were always there for each other. That never changed.

He was the king of our sport and always will be.

Two of my heroes. RIP Arnie
