Winter weather doesn't stop us!

It's the perfect time to enjoy long walks on empty beaches and a spot of kite flying. And there's nothing better than coming back to the cottage for tea and cake in front of the fire whilst getting stuck into a fiendishly tricky puzzle!

There are so many wonderful walks nearby, but one of the prettiest is the Bosherston Lily Ponds on the Pembrokeshire NT/YG Sir Benfro Stackpole Estate.

Not only will you enjoy the waterlilies in June and July but the lakes and lakeside woodland are abundant with wildlife all year round. If you are lucky (and very quiet!) you may even spot an Otter!

"We just spent a lovely weekend at Bluebell Cottage - two families with small children. The cottage is a traditional Welsh cottage and very cosy. You can quite easily walk to Angle Beach (although there is plenty of parking), there is a playground almost next door, The Old Point House just around the corner was quite a find - lovely food and local beers. I have already recommended the cottage to family and friends!"

A walk around the coast path from Bluebell Cottage certainly isn't boring with Thorne Island commandeering the view. A coastal artillery fort, it was built to defend the Milford Haven Waterway in the mid-19th century and has since been the site of a number of shipwrecks, including one in 1894 that was carrying a cargo of Scotch whisky. In more recent times it operated as a hotel and is now privately owned and available for private hire.

Bluebell Cottage holidays

We fell in love with the quiet village of Angle on our first visit. The stunning beach is a short walk from Bluebell Cottage and has some wonderful hidden areas to explore, as well as having the all important coffee and ice-cream provisions to hand at the fabulous Wavecrest Cafe. The Pembrokeshire Coast path takes in amazing scenery and is popular with dog walkers, and the village has two fantastic pubs - The Hibernia Inn and The Point House Inn.

There are a number of other beautiful beaches to choose from nearby, including Barafundle, Broadhaven South, Freshwater East and Freshwater West (famous for its surf). A visit to Broad Haven South beach taking in the walk round the lily ponds at Bosherton should not be missed, likewise the headland walk to Barafundle Bay - one of our favourite spots.

The coastal town of Tenby is a 25 minute drive from the cottage and there are numerous local attractions, including Bluestone, Oakwood, Folly Farm, Manor Wildlife Park, Carew Castle, Pembroke Castle and Manorbier Castle.

Bluebell Cottage offers families or small groups of friends the opportunity to relax and enjoy a peaceful holiday in stunning Pembrokeshire. The cottage is dog-friendly and is well-equipped for children.
