The word yoga comes from the Sankit root 'yuj', which means to yoke the mind, body and spirit together in order to create balance and harmony within ourselves. We become more connected to our mind, body and spirit by creating space and openness within the physical body. It begins with prana, which refers to our breath and asana, which refers to the physical poses. Prana helps us become deeper in the pose and flow from one pose to another as well as brings stillness, clarity and focus to the mind. Asana helps to serve the body's ever changing needs in order to restore and maintain energy, vitality and calmness for a balanced well-being. As we move towards developing space and openness we become more inclined to accepting ourselves and the relationships around us, resulting in a more loving and inspiring you. Yoga teaches us to be in the present moment. The practice of asana and prana may only last for twenty minutes, however being present on your mat is a learning experience that teaches us that we all have the potential to be in the here and now. How we tackle the mat can be insight to how we may approach life's challenges. Ask yourself: am I open-hearted to new ideas or do my fears hold me back? Can I find strength within myself or rely on external factors? Throughout our practice we may encounter many questions that will provide us insight into ourselves. and the body are all harmonious." -J Krishnamurti
