I had the ability to experience using the new Lightning Lane Multipass on opening day! Long post ahead!
Our plan for the day was to start at Hollywood Studios for a few of our favorites and then hop to Epoct to see how easy it would be using this new pass.
Each park is priced differently, similar to Genie Plus, but you can book both Multi Pass and Single Pass in one transaction. Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios cost more than Animal Kingdom and Epcot.
Since we were starting at Hollywood Studios, I purchased that and chose Minnie and Mickey’s Railroad from Group 1 and Indiana Jones and Beauty in the Beast from Group 2 so all our initial selections were early morning and close in time. The great thing about multi-pass is that you can have overlapping times so it makes clustering possible!
TIP: Book three selections from the start so you can easily modify throughout the day rides or better times show up throughout the day.
We did not choose to do any single pass rides but could have chosen them from different parks!
Since we were resort guests, we were able to do early magic hours. We were able to get Toy Story Mania and Slinky Dog Dash done standby. We then headed to use our first pass at Mickey & Minnie’s Railroad.
As soon as we scanned in, I was able to book another ride. I went in, changed the park to Epcot and was able to book Frozen for later that night.
When doing that, we noticed that Soarin and Spaceship Earth still had some late morning times, so we changed Indiana Jones and Beauty and the Best to those! We did Alien Saucers stand by and then headed to Epcot via skyliner.
TIP: Modifying and changing times is very easy to do! If you get a time you don’t like, book it and then go in and modify it and it will allow you to choose something that might work better!
Once we used our Spaceship Earth pass, we were able to book another one at the Seas of Nemo, but chose one later in the day so we could cluster with Frozen. After using our pass on Soarin, we immediately booked Living with the Land for later that night.
TIP: Keep checking for new ride times as we saw several that had afternoon ride times pop up with some earlier ones!
Between standby and our passes, we were able to do a lot of rides, in an organized way and still find time to go back to the resort for afternoon pool time.
Here are some important things I learned:
You will only be allowed to use a pass on a ride once but I think it allows for more rides to be available throughout the day for more guests to experience!
You can maximize your purchase by park hopping, especially if you are not sure you want to be able to purchase it every day
Modifying and changing times is really easy and you can adjust as you go along, based on what is happening standby that day.
From the Tip Board, you can see the current times being offered, so if you have a pass and want to change it, go to My Day, and modify it!
While some rides did sell out, there was still a good selection of rides throughout the day at all the parks. There were still late night spots at Magic Kingdom when we checked around 5 pm!
Remy is very popular and it was the one ride that we noticed sold out very quickly and never showed back up as an option. So, if this is a “must do” at Epcot, be sure to make it your Group 1 selection!
We definitely will be buying this each trip!
