Aberdeenshire formed one of the heartlands of the northern Picts between the fourth and ninth centuries AD. Militaristic and aristocratic, their society had several grades, including cavalry and footmen, a peasantry, part of whom was bonded to the land, all ruled by tribal chiefs and kings. The origins of this society lie in the Celtic Iron Age of the area. The symbol stones are decorated in a structured way with a series of animal and object symbols current in late Roman Iron Age times, third and fourth centuries AD, mirrors, combs, cauldrons, geese, hounds

Tour Scotland very short 4K travel video clip, with Scottish bagpipes music, of Highland Cows on ancestry, genealogy, family history visit and trip to the Isle Of Mull, Inner Hebrides, Britain, United Kingdom. The highland breed of cattle has a long and distinguished ancestry, not only in its homeland of western Scotland, but also in many far flung parts of the world. One of Britain's oldest, most distinctive, and best known breeds, with a long, thick, flowing coat of rich hair and majestic sweeping horns, the Highlander has remained largely unchanged over the centuries. Highland cattle were first mentioned in the 6th century AD, and were descended from longhorn cattle brought to Britain by farmers of the late Stone Age. The breed standard for Highland cattle was created in 1885. Breeding stock has been exported to many other continents beginning in the 1900s, including Australia and North America. Highland Cattle or Heilan Coo in Scots, comes from the Gaelic translation of Ghaidhealach

By the 20th Century much of the population had emigrated and there were more sheep on Mull than people. In the history of the Highlands and Islands of Scotland many crofts, villages and churches fell into ruin in the late 18th or more usually the early 19th century

Tour Scotland short 4K travel video clip, with Scottish bagpipes music, of Loch Morar on ancestry, genealogy, family history visit to Lochaber, Highlands, Britain, United Kingdom. It is the deepest freshwater body in the United Kingdom. In common with Loch Ness there are occasional reports of large unidentified creatures seen in Loch Morar. The monster has been dubbed Morag by locals. After Nessie, it is among the best known of Scotland's legendary monsters. The name Morag is a pun on the name of the Loch, and of the Scottish female name, Morag. Sightings date back to 1887, and include some 34 incidents as of 1981. Sixteen of these involved multiple witnesses. In 1948 " a peculiar serpent like creature about 20 ft long " was reported by nine people in a boat, in the same place as the 1887 sighting. The appearance of the monster traditionally heralds the death of a Clanranald MacDonald. Clan Macdonald of Clanranald is a Scottish clan and a branch of Clan Donald one of the largest Scottish clans
