Orkney is famous for its baking. There are several independent bakeries and the quality of baking at or provided to the cafes is also excellent.
Purely in the interests of research I have been testing mince pies from two different bakeries - Rendall’s, which is almost next door, and Westray Bakery on the north isle of Westray.
It’s a hard job but I am prepared to make these sacrifices for the greater good.
