Be good to your dog 🙏🏻

The dog would have seen the crate as a safe space if he had been crate-trained properly. But instead, they just stuffed him inside, and now he thinks of it as a prison.

We all love our dogs. We cuddle them, spoil them, and tend to forgive them for whatever mischief they create. It’s easy to forget that our beloved canines are, after all, animals. They howl, growl, and sorry to tell you the obvious, they bite.

“Dog fights: it’s not a sport. It’s animal cruelty, plain and simple,” Wright said. “These dogs need a voice, they need someone to stand up for them.”

Here's a snippet of what Cesar Millan's methods do to the dog!

Force based, dominance based dog training techniques have robbed today’s domestic dog of the rights he has to space, and respect of his own life on earth.

Normal dog behaviours like growling for space when crowded, barking, chewing things, showing a little tension over food when he eats, pulling on the lead or digging in the garden have been labelled behaviour ‘problems’.

In the methods that Cesar and the followers use - natural dog behaviour is assumed to be a challenge to the humans in the home. This mindset is not only way off the truth - it also justifies punishment or force.

Punishments that I have seen Cesar use include; painful collars, finger jabs, intimidation, hanging a dog by a lead and collar, kicking, standing over a dog and threatening them. Physically pushing a dog onto their side and back, approaching a dog that's eating and hitting or kicking them.

Punishment and force cause crippling fear, stress and suppression of the act by the dog. Suppression of the dog’s most natural communication and behaviour is unfair and can be dangerous.

The gentler natured dog may just go with the flow - because they can't cope with confrontation. These dogs live a life where their overall potential and confidence is lowered. They do this because they have learned to behave in a way that makes them convenient and easy to live with.

The stressed, anxious and confused dog will not adapt so well to forced suppression and becomes highly fearful or eventually defensive/aggressive.

Initially the dog may fight the bully and end up more abused, resulting in emotional shutdown or learned helplessness. This is obvious to the trained eye and quite heartbreaking. This is labelled a 'calm sumbissive state' It's actually a nervous system freeze state based on the dog being literally 'scared stiff'

Suppression occurs if the approach forces the dog to wait it out, and it’s then assumed the behaviour is changed.

But when the bully leaves, the behaviour returns because nothing positive or useful has been achieved - least of all useful learning - and the dog is more confused than ever which will be shown in his behaviour, but this time he's also scared he's going to be hurt.

It beggars belief that people are still doing this to dogs, particularly whilst we live in the age of information and dog scientists everywhere are speaking out against it.

The untamed ego is a scary, scary thing.

🆘 WRONG!!!!! 🆘

I am so sad to see this being spread around as if it is some magic answer to interacting dogs.
I can not even imagine the amount of dogs I could not have gotten together if I took this advice and that is a shame that many people will.
Sure, there are dogs out there that would be fine with an initial off leash meeting with another dog. However there are many dogs out there that would not and that is the real world.
So why set them up to fail? 🤷🏻‍♀️
That is so unfair to the majority of dogs out there (of all breeds and sizes).
Done in the proper way and slowly, leash interactions can be very helpful to many dogs needing the skills.
I’ve worked with countless dogs that were on the euthanasia list simply because they were deemed “dog aggressive” and were never taught properly. Slow Leash interactions saved their lives and then they flourished in a home with other dogs.
I am not talking about allowing dogs to rush into one another’s faces either.
I’ve seen that too many times off and on leash and it can result in a negative outcome.
But encouraging people not to use leashes during an interaction for a broad spectrum of society’s dogs is outright dangerous.
Truly dangerous!! I would advise against it.

There is no perfect answer when interacting dogs but my philosophy has always been take it slow... allow the dogs to walk near one another first to feel one anothers energy, No need to rush it.
You can always move forward safely, but once the dogs are in a fight it’s hard to back that up.
I pray with this being spread around no dogs and humans are harmed.

Coyotes are smart, and they do attack pets, but they probably won't try to lure your dog to its death.

'They're no different from us': the woman who follows urban coyotes

San Francisco’s resident Coyote Lady met her first coyote early one cool June morning on Twin Peaks, one of the city’s tallest hills.

The coyote was a curious little thing, prancing here and there, dashing up the hill, and then down, all the while watching this strange creature and her dog. “She ran this way, she ran that way, she was so excited, like, ‘What’s going on? What are you doing?’” said Janet Kessler, 69.

In other words, it was as if Kessler met herself that day in 2007. Describing her first magical encounter, Kessler jumped up from her table at a local cafe to show how that coyote danced and played. Skittering back and forth, she demonstrated that the coyote was more than just an animal, more than the predator feared by small-dog owners, more than just the vermin that so many in rural areas still consider these creatures to be.
