He should be arrested for all his cruelty to dogs!!!!
Here's a snippet of what Cesar Millan's methods do to the dog!
Force based, dominance based dog training techniques have robbed today’s domestic dog of the rights he has to space, and respect of his own life on earth.
Normal dog behaviours like growling for space when crowded, barking, chewing things, showing a little tension over food when he eats, pulling on the lead or digging in the garden have been labelled behaviour ‘problems’.
In the methods that Cesar and the followers use - natural dog behaviour is assumed to be a challenge to the humans in the home. This mindset is not only way off the truth - it also justifies punishment or force.
Punishments that I have seen Cesar use include; painful collars, finger jabs, intimidation, hanging a dog by a lead and collar, kicking, standing over a dog and threatening them. Physically pushing a dog onto their side and back, approaching a dog that's eating and hitting or kicking them.
Punishment and force cause crippling fear, stress and suppression of the act by the dog. Suppression of the dog’s most natural communication and behaviour is unfair and can be dangerous.
The gentler natured dog may just go with the flow - because they can't cope with confrontation. These dogs live a life where their overall potential and confidence is lowered. They do this because they have learned to behave in a way that makes them convenient and easy to live with.
The stressed, anxious and confused dog will not adapt so well to forced suppression and becomes highly fearful or eventually defensive/aggressive.
Initially the dog may fight the bully and end up more abused, resulting in emotional shutdown or learned helplessness. This is obvious to the trained eye and quite heartbreaking. This is labelled a 'calm sumbissive state' It's actually a nervous system freeze state based on the dog being literally 'scared stiff'
Suppression occurs if the approach forces the dog to wait it out, and it’s then assumed the behaviour is changed.
But when the bully leaves, the behaviour returns because nothing positive or useful has been achieved - least of all useful learning - and the dog is more confused than ever which will be shown in his behaviour, but this time he's also scared he's going to be hurt.
It beggars belief that people are still doing this to dogs, particularly whilst we live in the age of information and dog scientists everywhere are speaking out against it.
The untamed ego is a scary, scary thing.
