We are able to offer car parking facilities for up to 6 cars on our private car park located opposite the guest house. This works on a first come first serve basis, and alternative parking, with free permits provided, can be found in the 'Old Town' just a 5 minute walk away. Luggage storage is available for those travelling by bus or train for later departures and we would be happy to pre-order taxi's for those who need transport to the bus/railway stations. Boasting some of the best sea and harbour views in Scarborough, the Duke of York is possibly one of the most conveniently located guest houses in town, overlooking the South Bay seafront. We are literally only a few steps away from the beach and just a 5 minute walk into the heart of the town. Located on one of the oldest roads in Scarborough, Merchant’s Row, this tiny cobbled street is steeped in history and has in fact been the location of various films throughout the past 30 years. These films include ‘Chorus of Dissaproval’ staring Anthony Hopkins, Jeremy Irons and Prunella Scales as well as ‘Dancing Queen’, with Rick Mayall and Helena Bonnam Carter. More recently it was also used in the hit TV drama ‘Brides in The Bath’ with Martin Kemp. Many of the town’s attractions including the Sea Life Centre, Peasholm Park, Miniature Railway and Playzone Adventure Centre are all within walking distance of the guest house, or just a few minutes bus ride away. A selection of literature is available both in the bedrooms and in the entrance of the guest house for your convenience. We look forward to welcoming you to the Duke of York Guest House. Most of our guests are repeat visitors, some of which have been staying with us for 10, 15 and some for almost 30 years. Visit us once and we hope you become a guest and friend for life.
