Start early and embark on this scenic trail featuring enchanting woodland paths, dramatic waterfalls, and picturesque riverside views. Keep an eye out for wildlife as you journey through this lush, tranquil setting.

As the trail winds through the trees and along the water, you’ll marvel at the power and beauty of cascading waterfalls. The route has some uneven steps and narrow paths, so be sure to wear sturdy footwear and take your time soaking in the scenery.

Explore the Stunning Stainforth and Catrigg Force Walk 🥾🌳

For guests staying at our holiday cottage, there’s no shortage of incredible walks right from the village. However, if you’re keen to venture a little further afield, the Stainforth and Catrigg Force walk is a fantastic option, just a short 10-minute drive away.

This 3.7 km circular route (approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes) begins in Stainforth, taking you through scenic farmlands, past Stainforth Scar, and culminating in the breathtaking sight of Catrigg Force – a stunning waterfall set in a deep gorge.

⚠️ Please note: The trail features a steep incline at the start, making it better suited for those looking for a moderately challenging hike rather than a leisurely stroll. Proper footwear is essential, especially in wetter conditions.

The walk concludes perfectly at the Craven Heifer pub in Stainforth, where you can unwind with refreshments before heading back.

So, whether you’re seeking new scenery or planning a rewarding day out, this picturesque trail is well worth the short trip from the cottage!
