Well Traveled Soles is now booking domestic and International vacation packages out of Kearney with travel dates beginning Nov 1, 2024✈️🧳

Kearney City Manager, Brenda Jensen, announced today that the Department of Transportation has selected SkyWest Airlines as the Essential Air Service provider for Kearney Regional Airport. The three-year contract, awarded to SkyWest, will begin on November 1, 2024. SkyWest will operate 50 passenger regional jets with 12 nonstop roundtrip flights per week to Denver.

SkyWest Airlines, operating under the United Express brand, will provide this much-anticipated service, offering increased connectivity and convenience for travelers in the Kearney area. The carrier will feature bookings, connections and baggage transfers that will access United Airlines’ global network. Flight schedules and pricing will be announced soon.

Kearney Mayor, Stan Clouse commented, “we are excited to welcome back SkyWest as our EAS carrier. They provided excellent service for Kearney before and we expect they will do this same under this new contract.” United-branded flights are a significant asset for our community, providing not only improved connectivity for business and leisure travel, but also fostering economic growth and development in Kearney and surrounding region.

5 KEYS FOR LEAVING KIDDOS WHEN YOU TRAVEL

1: I make a list on my phone and print a hard copy

I always print out a hard copy to have at the house. I get super specific. I add times they should be awake/go to sleep/take medication (make sure you have refilled before you go!)/leave for school/I include addresses of places grandparents might not be familiar with (friend’s houses) and dinner options for each day too.

2: I do all of the laundry before we leave.

I do this for several reasons. I do all of the laundry to help myself out upon my return but also to help out the kids (they have everything they need and it’s clean) and then also, the grandparents don’t have to do any. It’s not easy getting packed and doing allllll the laundry but worth it.

3: We buy groceries in advance.

I always make sure we leave all of the groceries the kids and grandparents need while we’re away. We buy things like milk, coffee, creamer, bread, peanut butter, etc so that hopefully, they have everything they need in our pantry/fridge.

4: We notify the school.

I always make sure I let my kids’ school know when other people will be picking them up/dropping them off. Should there ever be an issue/illness/injury, I want everyone to have the right phone numbers, names and contact info.

5: We make sure they have garage remotes/codes/WIFI passwords, etc.

We give ’em all the deets.

There are so many! I think the first thing to consider is how long you want to be gone, your budget and what you're comfortable with on this first trip. Are you comfortable with a long flight? What about a foreign language or currency? Do you want to be on the same time zone as a US state or are you okay leaving and traveling further into other time zones? Are you looking for this trip to be relaxing or adventurous? Do you want beach time or museums? The world is big and there are so many great countries to visit on your first trip, but I think it's important to know what would make you feel confident as a first time traveler and what would make you feel too nervous to enjoy the vacation. I want you to have the time of your life abroad, so really be truthful with yourself about what your comfort zone is.
