🇺🇸 In the days of the colonies, not many Americans were able to read. Eateries and taverns would put up signs using imagery to help locals and travelers know what was sold in the establishments.

The metal sign outside Columbia Harbour House lets those colonial citizens know that both chicken and fish are served inside.🇺🇸

🇺🇸 Check out the crooked shutters on the second floor of Sleepy Hollow Refreshments in Liberty Square. No, this isn't a mistake or an accident. During the Revolutionary War, no metal was shipped from England to the 13 colonies due to the worry that colonists would use it to make more bullets.

Colonists used all the metal they could to make more ammunition, including taking the metal from shutters and re-hanging them with leather straps. The leather would age and stretch leading to the crooked looking shutters seen throughout Liberty Square! 🇺🇸

Just got back from seeing and whoa did I need to process and fully appreciate it afterwards! To see anxiety portrayed so accurately and so kids could understand it was overwhelming and led to tears. It showed how our emotions get hijacked by anxiety, becoming an uncontrollable whirlwind in our brain, and the difficulty getting out of it. It was a beautiful moment for my boys and I to discuss as now they can better understand what I go through. Well done, , and thank you ❤️
