Can you find us in the mural? 🧐

📍Fresque des Lyonnais, located at the corner of 2 Rue de la Martinière and 49 Quai Saint Vincent

Okay so we’re not quite at Wally/Waldo’s level of camouflage, but what do you rate our blending in skills? 😶‍🌫️

There are over 100 murals painted on the walls of buildings around Lyon in France 🎨

The murals are primarily painted by a group of muralists, known collectively as CitéCréation. 👨🏻‍🎨

This incredibly realistic mural, Fresque des Lyonnais, covers the entire wall of this building and includes depictions of some French celebrities! 🇫🇷

We wish we’d been able to see more of these detailed scenes painted around Lyon, however, we were restricted timewise…

I thought I’d already posted the Lyon’s share but here’s some more 📸🦁✨

How gorgeous is Lyon though? It has such vibrant colours 🌈 and street art 🖼️ and the architecture is so impressive!

Some of our fav spots pictured here are:

⛪️ The Basilica of Notre-Dame de Fourvière from the bridge is beautiful from all angles and all lightings (we especially liked the view from the Justice bridge - first pic - and from the Rosalie Gardens - last pic)

⛲️ The Fontaine Bartholdi in front of the Place des Terreaux (pics 2 & 6)

🐆 The wall mural of a panther walking past the window is on Rue de la Platiere (near the library)

🌁 Lyon has some real nice bridges, including Passerelle Saint Vincent (4, 5 & 7) and Passerelle du Palais-de-Justice (pic 1)

🐯 The pink tiger wall art is on Place Gabriel Rambaud

🤥 The Pinocchio wall art is on Rue de l’Annonciade

I’d be Lyon if I said I’m not still getting through content from our interrailing trip last summer… 🤥

📸📍 Lyon, France 🇫🇷

Little did I think when I started this travel insta as we were leaving for our 2 month train adventure that I would still be dragging out posts from our Europe trip OVER a year on… 🤷🏻‍♀️😂

But, in my defence…

🚞 We covered a lot of ground in that two months! We had a 60 day inter rail pass which allowed for unlimited journeys, so we got our moneys worth by moving to a new city every other day.

🚶‍♀️ Each new city entailed a non stop itinerary of sight seeing before moving onto the next one, so naturally we have an obscene amount of pictures and videos from those 2 months in our camera roll.

🌍 We have been full time travelling for the past year, from Europe we flew to South East Asia where we spent the last 10 months. So naturally, we’ve been very busy!

So basicallyyyy this caption is a very long winded round about way of me apologising for STILL posting about our European interrailing trip that we embarked on a whole year ago… 🤦🏻‍♀️

But also, sorry not sorry😋, cos I’ve still got a huge backlog of Europe content to get through!

Whilst I’m on the topic though, I’m intrigued what you guys are interested in seeing from me… 🤔

My travel journey so far 🌻

Joe & I always loved going on holiday together and we’ve also known we wanted to go travelling… However, things got in the way in our early twenties 🤣

I decided to do a MSc in Forensic Psychology, then COVID hit, then we bought a house… 👩🏻‍🎓🦠🏡

But FINALLY the ✨ aligned and we had our career breaks approved a year ago, we started renting our house out, sold all our belongings & hit the road 🛣️

We spent two months interrailing Europe last summer, we covered a lot of ground! We went to France, Netherlands, Belgium, Hungary, Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, Croatia, Spain & Portugal 🚞 🌞

Then we came home for a whirlwind 10 days before jetting off to South East Asia for 9 months ✈️

We spent 2 months in Indonesia 🇮🇩, a 2 weeks in Malaysia 🇲🇾, 3 months in Thailand 🇹🇭, 1 month in Laos 🇱🇦, 45 days in Vietnam 🇻🇳 & 1 month in Cambodia 🇰🇭

We’ve now been home in England for a month and we’ve already got the travel itch 😅

I’m sure we’ll be setting off again soon as we had our career break extended for ANOTHER year…

Allow me to re-introduce myself! 🙋🏻‍♀️

Now this page is officially 1 years old 🎂, it seems like a good time to (re)introduce myself.

My name is Hannah, I’m 29 from England (I’ve been watching too much Love Island bcos I feel like I should announce my type on paper next 🏝️😂)

I thought I’d share 10 photos that relate to 10 facts about me so you can get to know me better:

1. I been travelling full time for the last year, interrailing Europe during the summer & then nine months in South East Asia. (Phu Quoc, Vietnam - home to some of the best sunsets we’ve ever seen!) 💕

2. I’ve always loved travel! I first went to SEA 10 years ago (Koh Chang, Thailand - we recently returned to this island but I have no idea where I took this picture so I couldn’t recreate it) 🌴

3. Before travelling full time, my boyfriend and I used to holiday a lot, our favourite holiday ever was to Iceland. (Reykjavik, Iceland – we have been to Iceland twice & were lucky enough to see the Northern Lights both times) 💚

4. My favourite cocktail is a pornstar martini (Manchester, England – Joe is a Man City fan & so now I am too) 💙

5. Something else I love is Harry Potter. (Lacock, England – some of HP was filmed here) ✨

6. My life is a constant cycle of impulsively cutting my hair short & then instantly regretting it, spending years growing it again – rinse repeat. (Lisbon, Portugal – we did so many steps on this holiday) 🏰

7. I live in Bristol with my boyfriend, Joe, and our dog, Luka. (Bristol, England – we went for a picnic in these woods and a dog ran over & stole our pizza and knocked over our prosecco) 🍕🥂

8. My favourite colour is green! (Salisbury, England – this is us at Joe’s sister’s wedding) 💒

9. I am obsessed with sunsets (Sintra, Portugal – we were lucky enough to have the whole beach to ourselves when we watched this one) 🌅

10. I’m a Libra which is why I have a scales tattoo on my leg (Lisbon, Portugal – we did so many steps on this holiday) ⚖️

We’ve been keeping a SECRET 🤫

…. we’re back in England!!! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏡

(for now)

After a year on the road together, we’ve come back to England to spend time with our family and friends AND our dog 🥹

We’ve missed all our loved ones so much over the last 365 days and we’ve had the loveliest time being home so far 🫶🏼

Being away definitely gave us a new appreciation for England…

Although, it probably helps that it is Summer at the moment and our time has been spent camping, staying at AirBnBs and other fun things 🤷🏻‍♀️

So the travelling blues haven’t set in… YET.

But I’m sure they will, & when they do we are looking forward to even more adventures together over the next year of our career break and beyond that! ✈️

However, whilst we are in England for the time being, we will be focussing on creating lots more content from our travels and hopefully broadening our horizons with some new and exciting ventures!

We timed coming home quite well considering it’s the Euros currently…

So we’ve had the luxury of being able to watch nearly all of the games & I’m proud to announce that I’m doing very well in our Dream Team Fantasy Football leagues 👸🏻

So what do you reckon, is it just us coming home or is football coming home? ⚽️

Cheers to ONE YEAR of Han Hits the Road🥂

Thank you to everyone who has supported this account over the last 365 days 🫶🏼 the Instagram travel community is the BEST.

But I cannot believe it’s been a year since I created this account!

Well, I say ‘created’ this account…

In reality, I changed my personal account (which I’ve had since 2012 lol) into Han Hits the Road 🛵

So, I apologise to anyone from school/work/uni etc. who was suddenly following a travel account against their will 🤷🏻‍♀️

I remember sitting in the airport this time last year, waiting to fly to Paris…

Joe and I were chatting about the year of travelling that we had ahead of us (over an obligatory airport drink) & I decided to change my username and hope for the best 🤞🏼

Safe to say, I didn’t put much thought or research into travel content creation before we embarked on our journey which in hindsight was a mistake 🫣

However tbf to me, never did I think I would connect with so many likeminded people and actually still be posting a year on… 🫶🏼

Nor did I realise that we would end up extending our career break by ANOTHER year… or that travel would become something I would potentially want to make a career out of👩🏻‍💻

So whilst I am proud of myself for managing to keep this account alive over the last year of very full on full time travelling, I am disappointed in my lack of consistency…

I feel like I came out the gates running when we started interrailing, I had so much time to dedicate to Instagram whilst we were on long train journeys between destinations.

Then, when we left for South East Asia two months later, this page kind of fell by the wayside. I was overwhelmed with how different of a travelling experience it was but also just so busy having fun.

So, on the 1-year anniversary of this page, I am pinky promising, to myself and to anyone still reading, to commit to this page more going forward! 🤙🏻

I also have been sitting on a little secret that I will share soon & I have some plans in the pipeline for the next year, so keep your eyes peeled 👀

Can you believe this pool oasis is in Phnom Penh’s city centre?! 🩵

It was so easy to forget that the hustle and bustle of Phnom Penh is just a stone’s throw away when you are lounging in the outdoor pool surrounded by greenery 🌱

This quiet, peaceful and private pool is the perfect place to cool off after braving the hot and busy city centre 🥵

Also, how good does this breakfast look? & the views from the sky restaurant weren’t bad either 🍳

🌝 NIGHT 🌝

What better way to spend your evening than in the rooftop bar, admiring the sparkly nights’ skyline, the Independence Monument looks particularly impressive here 🌃

A bathtub is such a rare treat when you are travelling in south east Asia, so best believe I made the most of it… 🛁

Harry Potter and a beer? That is baths done right!🪄🍺

The rooms here are the perfect place to unwind and end your day, so comfy and the TV is huge making it the perfect place to continue your movie night 🍿

I actually meant to include this picture in yesterday’s carousel about our stay at the beautiful Tube Resort on the Cambodian island of Koh Rong Sanloem (check out my previous post if you missed it) but clearly I cannot count to 10, so have this picture on its own 🤷🏻‍♀️

Also, the flash on Joe’s phone is so impressive that I was blind for like an hour after this. Stay safe out there content creators 😎😅

Tu-be or not tu-be? 🤔

📍 Tube Resort, Koh Rong Sanloem (Cambodia)

After spending a few nights here, we can confirm we vote - tu-be! 🫶🏼

We had the most enjoyable and relaxing time at this lovely resort on a private section of Sandy Beach on Cambodia’s most beautiful island, Koh Rong Sanloem 🇰🇭

We particularly loved the tube shaped rooms - so cute and unique! 🥰

If you like the sound of:

🐶 playing with puppies on the beach
🏊‍♀️ swimming in a pool with a view of the sea
🍽️ romantic dinners on the beach listening to the sound of the waves
🏝️ lounging on beach swings
🌅 short walks to a sunset viewpoint

Let me tell you guys about the perfect island escape…

📍 (Koh Rong Sanloem)

Koh Rong Sanloem is a gorgeous little island paradise in Cambodia 🇰🇭 where jungle meets beach and sea 🏝️

Island Centre Point is a beautiful and secluded resort located on Koh Rong Sanloem’s laid-back and serene Saracen Bay 🌊

Think sand in your toes 💛 cocktail in your hand 🍸 sea breeze in your hair 💁🏻‍♀️

Getting here was so easy too! The resort arranged for us to be picked up from Saracen Bay ferry pier by a private boat and taken straight to the resort 🚤

We were treated to cold towels and a lemongrass drink on arrival which made the check in process a smooth dream 🍋

Our room opened directly onto the pure-white sand beach facing the ocean 🤍🩵

We could just step down from our tiled terrace and feel the sand under our feet of the private beach and walk straight into the pristine sea 🐚

I was obsessed with our outdoor bathroom where we could choose from the freestanding bathtub or to shower-under-the-stars 🧖🏻‍♀️

There is literally no reason to leave, their restaurant is a relaxed and elegant venue to enjoy beach-style snacking or a fine-dining experience with the ocean nearby 🍣
