Hello everyone! It’s Mandy here! It has been a few years, and I wanted to give you all an update.

As you probably know COVID destroyed my tour business. It was absolutely devastating to have to close down. Not only did it destroy my business, but it forced me to make some major life changes to figure out how to survive and move on.

I ended up selling my house and moving to Europe. I have a great job here that I love, and I am finally back on my feet.

Most of you know how creative I am and that I need to have my hands in some kind of project. One project I have been working on for many years is building my family tree and discovering where my ancestors immigrated from. A year and a half ago I traveled to Sicily to the town where my Longo family came from —- and I absolutely fell in love with this place. I had an instant connection to the land, the people, and the history.

Well, I am excited to say that I just purchased a home here in Sicily! I am going to completely renovate it and not only use it as a vacation home for myself, but also open it as an Air BnB.

I am so excited about this project and I wanted to share this exciting news with all of you. I absolutely loved our time together in Orlando and Winter Park on the tours and I miss that part of my life. It has been a long road, but I can finally say I am in a good place again and I am eager to start this next chapter.

I caught the last moment of this interaction between this pair of swans and their friend, the local bike patrol officer. The swans were quietly laying down, then the cop rolled up and started talking to them. The daddy swan stood up and spoke back - and even mama on her nest was honking! Mosquito County Tours

Mandy is a third generation resident of central Florida and loves her town! About a decade ago, Mandy started going on walking tours hosted by local residents in all of the different towns she traveled to. She would seek out these tours in towns like San Fransisco, Manhattan, and even Birmingham, Alabama. She has done food tours, history tours, Civil Rights tours, and much more - and has fallen in love with this type of experience! Living in Orlando, one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world, Mandy found that most people think of her home-town as “Disney” or “theme parks”...which is absolutely not the case. She also had found that many locals don’t know all of the rich history that this town town has to offer. There is so much rich history and delicious food to explore here! Mandy wanted to provide this experience for both out-of-towners and locals alike.

Mandy began doing tours as fundraisers for the Audubon Park Garden District, one of Orlando’s 10 Main Street Districts - the district where she grew up and still lives in today. These tours were wildly popular and guests were asking for more. This is when the idea for Mosquito County Tours was born.

The original county name for most of central Florida (before Orange, Seminole, Osceola, or any other counties existed) was Mosquito County - which is where the company name came from. Come join us on a tour, and learn facts like this - and a whole lot more, while we explore Central Florida!
