Considered one of the largest marian sanctuaries with its 87,000 M2, the Sanctuary of Fátima was built during the 20th century due to the 6 apparitions of Our Lady to Lúcia, Francisco and Jacinta
Today it has 6 million annual visitors and is a mandatory stop for my catholic clients and others
With me you'll discover the Shrine, the basílics and also the village and houses where the children lived

I live 15 min away from it and many many times stop there on my way home after a tour just to thank Our Lady how blessed I am and to light up candles 🙏🌻

Unfortunately last Thursday Pena Palace didn't open their gates and this amazing couple didn't got to visit it ...
They were very easy going but unfortunately mother nature is one of the few things I still can't control 😅🤪
We still got to go to "Quinta da Regaleira", almost flew away in "Cabo da Roca" 🙈 and rain drops in Cascais
Thank you Blake and Angela for being soo funny all day long despite the weather
For me and Mario was a real pleasure to tour and guide you
Hope we meet again 🙏☺️

Let me tell you that it is perfectly possible to go and understand
The musical is very well thought out in such a way that it is subtitled on giant screens in English and Spanish
The musical "FÁTIMA" is on stage at Teatro Politiama, which is very close to the well-known Rossio Station or Rua Augusta
Enjoy it because it's 2 fantastic hours of a show directed by one of the most famous directors in Europe Filipe La Feria

Today we picked up a group of friends in Leiria and we went to the wonderful city of Lisbon.
We took a short walking tour of Praça da Figueira, Rossio, Restauradores and had dinner at Restaurante Bom Jardim where you can eat a tasty roast chicken and count on the enormous friendliness of the staff
At night we went to the Politiama Theater to watch the musical theater "Fátima" by Portuguese director Filipe La Feria.
Another wonderful day with a super happy group of friends 🥰

Bad weather - Monuments closed to assess safety risks

Following the atmospheric conditions that were felt in Sintra on the night of January 29th to 30th, Parque da Pena, Palácio Nacional da Pena, Chalet da Condessa d'Edla, Castelo dos Mouros and Convento dos Capuchos are, For security reasons, temporarily closed.

The Monserrate Road is also closed, with access to the Monserrate Park and Palace only from the Colares side.

The monuments will be closed until noon, to assess the safety conditions at the site. The information will be updated on the official Parques de Sintra channels.

Yesterday was a Mission Impossible movie-style day!
We went to Sintra to pick up our clients, but it wasn't easy, between autograph requests and dealing with private security and the police.
That's what happens when your clients are famous!!!🤩
Still, we managed to make a few stops along the way.
Today I won't even say where we are to see if we go unnoticed 😅.....but I'm so happy that you trusted me!!!!

Lately it seems to be normal to advertise tours in Portugal in places that are not very popular (touristic) among our foreign visitors (tourists) As a tour guide since 2000, this is a subject that bothers me 🙈 If someone comes to Portugal for the first time, I think it's normal for them to visit the places that made our country so desirable, right?
Am I wrong?🙄
Places like the Belém Tower in Lisbon or the Pena Palace in Sintra are not just "attractions"; They are landmarks that connect us with centuries of history and tradition, allowing you to understand what made Portugal the fascinating country it is today.
Lisbon and Porto it's where the 2 main airports are so it's normal that everyone is based on one of those two cities, especially if coming for a short time
Being in places like Ribeira, in Porto or Bairro Alto, in Lisbon, is to immerse yourself in a unique environment, where heritage mixes with modernity, and where every corner has a story to tell.
So, PLEASE, if you are coming for the first time to my beautiful country YES, go to all those touristic places you read about from North to South and as a first time visitor base yourself in Lisbon, Porto and Algarve
Leave the "off beaten path" for when you come back

🚨 With the increase of tourists coming in every day to Portugal of course there's also an increase of people advertising themselves as tourguides and they're not

Don't just research hotels, restaurants or places to visit
Research also the back ground of the person that you're hiring to drive or tour you

Unfortunately our Tourism office doesn't ask for our tourism diploma or certificate
But you do have to have a license to title yourself as a tourguide
When you hire ask for the person's license number then go to the Tourism site and search the number

Another fact that you should pay attention to is if you are hiring a tour guide or a driver
A tourguide will always accompany you, whether walking around the city or inside a monument, explaining the context of the visit according to portuguese history or facts

A driver on the other hand will drive you to where you ask him to and then at the appointed time he will pick you up

I see this almost every day, you think you're going to be with a guide and then you're dropped at the entrance of the monument ...

I am a defensor of this increase of tourists in my country and I am really outraged when I come across this situation, so please be careful and do your research based on real facts 😉
